We're bringing you a special update in addition to your regular Moving Around the Borough newsletter, which will be with you at 5pm this Thursday as usual.
Overnight closures to keep major road moving
The northbound carriageway of the A33 Swallowfield bypass will be closed from 8pm tomorrow (Tuesday, 9 December) until 6am and again on Wednesday night.
This is so we can carry out a temporary repair on the crack that has appeared along about 1km of the inside lane, which has been shut for safety reasons.
The inside lane will remain closed 24/7 while works are carried out, while the entire northbound carriageway will only be closed overnight.
The closure is between the Hampshire boundary and Mereoak Lane, with a diversion via Odiham Road, B3349 Basingstoke Road & Basingstoke Road.
Apologies for the short notice while we finalised some details and thank you for your patience while we carry out these essential works.
This will allow us to safely reopen the cracked lane and stop rain getting in, which causes further damage, while we work to identify a permanent solution.
We've taken samples from the road and will analyse them to identify what has caused the problem and what we need to do next.
We'll keep you updated through this newsletter when we know more, and we'll let you know about any disruption as far in advance as we can.
