Temporary lights replaced after fault identified
Our work started at the junction of Easthampstead Road and Heathlands Road on Monday 17 November, with three-way lights in place for four weeks.
Since then, we have received reports about the increase to journey times. People have also asked if there is a fault with the lights.
The lights were checked regularly to make sure there was not a problem, but in the last few days we spotted a fault and worked quickly to source an alternative that will be more reliable.
These will be in place from today (27 November) and should significantly improve the traffic flow in this area. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused until now.
To further help ease congestion in this area, we would remind everyone to follow the official diversion route.
Some drivers are going through red lights illegally, which causes the junction to be blocked and creates delays.
Work remains on track to be complete by mid-December, ahead of further work from early next year.
It’s part of our wider South Wokingham Distributor Road project, which provides a key access route for new homes and other infrastructure.
Our next South Wokingham community forum will run from 4.30pm to 7pm on Thursday 4 December at St Sebastian’s Memorial Hall in Wokingham (RG40 3BA). We'll be there to answer questions, as will housing developers and our road building partners at Balfour Beatty.
