Reporting road damage during winter peak
We work hard to maintain our roads throughout the year, including our annual programme of treatments like surface dressing and resurfacing.
We've also got our gritters on standby for the winter to help keep you safe, with teams ready to head out at short notice.
However, we see more damage to our roads as water seeps into cracks and expands when it freezes, which weakens surfaces over time.
Most potholes or other damage can be reported to us online and we'll aim to respond to any non-urgent reports within 28 days.
You can also track the progress of any reports you've already made.
You can call us if it's urgent on 0118 974 6000 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or on 0800 212 111 outside those hours.
An urgent issue is something like a deep pothole or anything that presents a trip hazard, which we aim to respond to within two hours.
Lots of problems can crop up on the roads and footways in winter, from flooding to fallen trees and branches. You can report them all on our website, where there's more information about how and when we can help.

Festive fun and free buses as Christmas nears
The festive season is nearly upon us and the community is gearing up to celebrate - but don't forget some festivities could affect your journey:
We're also providing free bus travel on selected dates in the run-up to Christmas.
You can get a free single ticket on any local journey (except football specials and park and rides) that starts in the borough on the following dates:
- Sunday 30 November
- Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December
- Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December
- Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December
The offer still applies if you travel outside the borough but if you go somewhere that isn't running a similar offer, you'll need to pay for your return journey.
It's funded by the Government through our Bus Service Improvement Plan, with similar discounts in neighbouring boroughs.
Walking or cycling there? Stay visible in the dark!
In November, the number of collisions with pedestrians can double from October because of the clocks going back and longer hours of darkness.
You should wear bright or even fluorescent clothing during the daytime or evening, when there's still light, as you can be seen much more easily.
But this won't help you in the dark - you also need something reflective. Even a small strip somewhere on your clothing will make you visible from far away.
Between sunset and sunrise, cyclists are also legally required to use a white front light, a red rear light, a red rear reflector and amber pedal reflectors.

Sewer repair closure to run into 2026
Part of Evendons Lane in Wokingham is set to remain closed until late February while Thames Water fix a damaged sewer.
Following an emergency closure between Evendons Close and Glendale Close this summer, the company found empty gaps under the road so it isn't safe for vehicles.
A specialist engineering team are now planning to excavate and pump water from the sewer before relining it to prevent a recurrence.
In recent months they've carried out underground surveys, installed the pumping system and started repairs on the sewer shaft.
They're working from 8am until 5pm during the week, with some weekend work.
A diversion is in place, though there's still pedestrian and emergency access as well as access to Evendons Primary School.
Residents and businesses have received an update by letter and acoustic shielding has been put up to reduce the impact of noise.
Other works rescheduled again to minimise delays
Thames Water have apologised for the delay in providing an update, and say their teams needed time to put a plan together due to the complexity of the work.
The repairs had to be handed over to specialists after an initial attempt was set back by the ground collapsing around the excavations.
We've been delaying as many other works as we can to limit disruption caused by the closure, though legally we still have to allow anything that's urgent.
Following the latest news, we've rescheduled some planned investigative works on Blagrove Lane and Edneys Hill near Wokingham for the second time.
The works by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are part of our Barkham solar farm project, but would be too disruptive with Evendons Lane shut.
They will now take place in March. For more details, find the area on our online map and look for works within "next twelve months".
The closure at the junction of Molly Millars Lane and Finchampstead Road, part of the South Wokingham Distributor Road works, is set to finish in March next year. Works are also under way on part of Easthampstead Road. You can get all the latest updates in the South Wokingham community newsletter.
New resident parking permit scheme approved
We've decided to change how resident parking permits work, including the introduction of several new areas.
This follows a thorough review of your responses to a consultation earlier this year on how we should manage permit parking across the borough.
We updated our proposals based on your feedback, and our newly-agreed policy will now guide our approach over the next five years.
Key changes include:
- A tiered pricing structure for resident permits across all parking zones, setting the cost at £55 for the first vehicle and £105 for the second
- The introduction of virtual visitor permits. A batch of 10 will cost £12 for 2-hour permits, £20 for 6 hours, £30 for 12 hours and £50 for 24 hours
- The creation of four new resident permit parking zones in Twyford
Other changes include making all resident parking zones 24/7 and aligning the cost of permits for state pensioners with the standard pricing.
We're also reviewing the boundaries of the new zones in Wokingham town, again based on your comments.
We'll share the revised boundaries when we consult on the traffic regulation order to formally introduce them.
You can read a detailed breakdown of the changes and what this means for you.
If you want to make a lasting difference to children's lives, our My Journey Wokingham team are looking for an cycle training assistant. It's suitable for anyone who enjoys cycling and wants to support their community.
