More green spaces in the pipeline for 2026
Developers are putting the finishing touches to two new green spaces in North Wokingham, which we're planning to adopt once they're finished.
The first is a riverside park off Queen's Road, to the north of St Cecilia's Primary School and south of the Toutley East site.
Also nearing the end of construction is the last of five planned nature parks serving this major development, at Ashridge Farm to the north of Dalley Road.
Before adopting nature parks to manage ourselves, we inspect them to make sure the developers have built them to the right standard. Both sites should be open by early 2026.
Comment on the future of Winnersh Library
We're reviewing the future of Winnersh Library. It's currently based at The Forest School, but its recently expanded and now needs the space.
Currently the library is open for 11 hours a week during term time and 26 hours in the school holidays.
Around a third of loans comes from students, who will still have access to a dedicated school library, while most residents already use other libraries across the borough. We’re exploring three options for the future:
- Close the current library and provide a temporary service before relocating to Winnersh Community Centre
- Close the current library and after a delay, relocate it to the Winnersh Community Centre
- Close the library without replacement
We know how important library services are and want to make sure any changes reflect the needs of the community while balancing the financial pressures we face.
The consultation is open until Wednesday 15 October and we're encouraging you to share your views.
You're a carer - even if you don't call it that
Do you help someone with daily tasks, emotional support or health needs? You might be a carer - even if you’ve never used that word.
Many people in Wokingham Borough don’t realise they’re carers, and as a result, miss out on vital support.
Being a carer can affect your health, finances and relationships. But there’s help available locally.
The Wokingham Carers Partnership offers practical advice, emotional support, and access to resources like the Carers UK app and the Carers Passport.
You’re not alone and you don’t have to wait for a crisis to get support, you can get it straight away and tap into things which can help.
Recognising your role is the first step, get in touch today and take that step.
