Bank Holiday bin collections same day just earlier
Bin collections will go ahead as usual on Bank Holiday Monday (25 August) but crews will start an hour earlier than normal. Please put your bins out the night before to make sure they’re ready.
Unlike many other councils, we don’t shift collections after bank holidays so your bin days will stay the same next week.
Grow your own with new allotments
Located on Quiller Avenue, Arborfield, the beautiful new site offers 36 plots, parking, composting bays, a traditional orchard, solar-powered tools, a picnic area and even a composting toilet, everything you need to grow your own fruit, veg and flowers.
This allotment facility was delivered by Crest Nicholson as part of the Arborfield Strategic Development. It’s just one of several we’ve helped bring forward through new developments, now managed by town and parish councils for local residents to enjoy.
New multi-use hall for secondary school
Construction on a new multi-use hall at The Piggott Church of England School in Wargrave is underway.
The new building includes a main hall and dining area, plus a dedicated working space and staff office.
The building is on schedule with the shell and roof built and windows, doors and underfloor heating installed.
The internal work will now start with the addition of internal walls, the first fix of electrics, mechanical and data wiring and lining of external walls.
The expansion at The Piggott School is part of a phased project to allow an extra 230 pupils into the school with improved sixth form facilities.
The phases include:
- Science department alterations and lab extension in October 2024
- Four flood lit all weather netball/tennis court in spring 2025
- New multi-use hall expected to be finished in December 2025
