Our journey to 2030 secured with new plan
We’ve officially approved our Council Plan for the next five years.
Shaped by feedback from our residents and partners, the plan supports our shared Communities Vision 2035 and focuses on four key themes:
- Fair – making sure everyone has equal access to opportunities and services
- Green – protecting our environment and working together to tackle climate change
- Safe – helping everyone feel secure in their homes, communities and public spaces
- Connected – improving transport, digital access and community links
We’ve also adopted a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Policy for 2025 to 2029. This policy strengthens our commitment to fairness and inclusion, making sure that these values are embedded in everything we do.
Together, these documents will guide how we make decisions, deliver services and support our communities. We’ll monitor progress regularly to make sure we stay on track and continue to meet the needs of our residents.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation and helped shape our journey to 2030.
Innovative social care approach makes a difference
Social Care Future is having a real impact in transforming how adults with disabilities live in Wokingham Borough.
The initiative ensures people who use these services shape the support they need, sharing power and making choices alongside providers, community groups and our teams.
Residents Jay, Callum, Yvonne and Gregg showcased how it’s making a difference at a council meeting last week, where they talked to councillors about how they’ve been involved. The group also announced plans for more improvements in the year ahead.
More time to switch to solar energy
The deadline to apply for Solar Together Berkshire has been extended to Friday 29 August, giving you more time to join the group buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage.
More than 500 Wokingham Borough residents have already signed up, helping to reduce energy bills and support our journey towards becoming a carbon neutral borough.
Solar Together offers a trusted way for homeowners and businesses to access competitive pricing through pre-vetted suppliers. The more people who register, the better the deal for everyone.
Register by 29 August to receive your personalised, no-obligation offer.
Shape how towns and villages are represented
We’re inviting residents to take part in the final phase of our Community Governance Review (CGR), which looks at how our towns and parishes are represented.
The CGR is a legal process we carry out every 10 to 15 years to make sure local governance reflects the needs of our communities.
This includes reviewing town and parish boundaries, representation and the number of councillors.
Earlier this year, we asked for your views and now, based on that feedback, we’ve published draft recommendations for you to review.
The final consultation is now open and runs until 13 November.
We’re encouraging residents, local councils and community groups to take a look at the proposals and share their thoughts before we prepare the final recommendations.
