 Go back in time and join jousting weekend at Dinton
A medieval jousting event is coming to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst over the weekend of 13 and 14 September from 10am to 4.30pm.
The event features birds of prey, archery, a food village and more. It's the perfect day out for everyone. Tickets cost:
- £23 - family ticket for two adults and three children
- £4 - child ticket
- £8 - adult ticket

 VJ Day community event for Woodley
Woodley Town Council is hosting a commemorative event to mark the eightieth anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ) Day on Friday 15 August.
A free, informal community drop-in afternoon will be held from 10am to 3pm in the Miles Suite at the Oakwood Centre.
The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made and to remember the significance of peace following the war in the Pacific.
The town council is looking for:
- Photographs from Woodley on VJ Day in August 1945
- Newspaper clippings or memorabilia
- Memories and stories passed down about how Woodley marked the day

The town council is also hosting Party in the Park, in Woodford Park, from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday 16 August. It’s free entry and there’s live music, children’s entertainment and much more.
 Foundation’s fun day coming soon
The Ollie Young Foundation’s Summer Fun Day is running at Reddam House School on Sunday 17 August.
It’s from 11am to 4pm, with stalls, games, aerialist, live music, classic cars, inflatables, a barbecue, bar and more.
Entry fee is £1 per car. Walk-ins are free. All the money raised goes directly into the charity’s brain tumour research project with the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR).
The charity is run entirely by volunteers and 100 per cent of the money raised from the fun day will go directly into its brain tumour research project with the ICR.
Date for your diary – Dinton Pastures Country Park is hosting its first-ever Laser Light Show on 2 November, from 5pm to 8pm. Tickets available to book now.
 Swallowfield Show back on bank holiday weekend
The Swallowfield Show takes place on 24 and 25 August, from 10am to 5.30pm each day.
More than 8,000 people attended this family favourite last year, with arena performances, live music, stalls, dog show, classic vehicle displays and more.
The event takes place at Swallowfield Park (RG7 1TH), with free parking on site.
Buy your tickets in advance for the event, which is run by volunteers and members of the Swallowfield Horticultural Society for the benefit of the community and to raise funds for local charities.

Village fete returns to Twyford next weekend
Twyford Village Fete returns to Stanlake Meadow on Saturday 16 August, from 1pm to 5pm.
The event is running for its ninth installment with food and a licensed bar, dog show, stunt show, live music, tug of war, car show, community stalls and much more.
Admission to the recreation ground off Waltham Road (RG10 0AB) is free on foot. Parking is available for £5 per vehicle. All proceeds to charity.

There’s still time to enjoy our Lakeside Sundown Fridays at Dinton Pastures Copuntry Park in Hurst , where you can enjoy this stunning sunset view of Black Swan Lake (pictured).
These run weekly from 4.30pm to 8pm, at The Coffee Deck. Each evening includes live music and sunset views.
Our bar will also be open where you can buy a drink or bite to eat. It’s running on:

Don’t forget boat hire, climbing wall and archery are open to book every day if you’re looking for something to do during the summer holidays.
Shinfield Friday fun day each week in August
Shinfield Parish Council is hosting weekly fundays at School Green Centre on Fridays during August.
They run from 10am to 1pm, with arts and crafts and soft play available for youngsters.
Voluntary donations towards running these sessions. Children must be supervised.
Shinfield Cinema is also hosting weekly screenings at 4.30pm and 7.30pm every Friday evening. Check the showings on the parish council website.
