 California summer fair coming on Sunday
A summer fair is coming to California Country Park in Finchampstead this Sunday (13 July) from 10.30am to 4pm.
It is hosted by JL Events and there is plenty of fun things to do for the whole family. It includes:
- Live singing
- Family fun
- Barbecue
- Treats from Jackson's Café
- Bouncy castle and rides
The event is free to attend. Car parking charges apply. We look forward to seeing you there.
 Fire engine part of free family fun day
Lower Earley Library will be hosting a free family funday on Friday 25 July.
This will run from 10am to 12 noon at the library off Chalfont Close, with a host of activities to explore and a visit from a fire engine.
We’ll also be joined by Guide Dogs Trust, Age Concern, involve, Dr Bike and My Journey Wokingham, Brookside Health, Create, First Days Children’s Charity, Daisy’s Dream and Herbie Hedgehog Rescue.
This event will be a great way to start your school summer holidays.
 New sunset events at Dinton Pastures
We're running new Lakeside Sundown Friday events where you can enjoy this stunning sunset view of Black Swan Lake at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst.
The event takes place every Friday throughout July, from 4.30pm to 8pm, at The Coffee Deck, including live music and sunset views.
The bar will also be open, where you can buy a beverage or bite to eat. There's Pimms, beers, prosecco, loaded nachos, hot dogs and ice creams available.
It’s the perfect way to unwind from the week. Upcoming dates:

 Free event gives the lowdown on electric vehicles
If you're interested in electric vehicles (EVs) but are worried about costs or charging, you can book free tickets to find out more on Friday 11 July.
Our first awareness event at Winnersh Triangle Business Park is open to local businesses, as well as residents who are thinking of switching. This is your chance to:
- Test drive a range of EVs from local dealerships
- Learn about available grants and how much money you could save
- Network with EV industry specialists who can provide advice
- Check out presentations about creating a net zero transport system
The event is organised in partnership with Let's Experience Electric, Winnersh Triangle Business Park and all six Berkshire councils.
Experts giving advice on the day will include the Energy Saving Trust and the University of Reading.

Early-bird tickets on offer for Cantley festival
Advanced and weekend tickets are now for sale for Wokingham Festival, which runs at Cantley Park from 23 to 25 August.
The bank holiday weekend plays host to the annual festival for food and drink, live music and a range of family activities to keep the crowds entertained.
Tickets are £24 per day or £60 for the weekend, with discounted tickets for under 18s and kids under eight go free.
Advanced tickets are 15 per cent cheaper than those on the gate, so pick yours up now
 New classes for adults with health conditions
Places Leisure have launched a range of new group exercise classes to support adults living with health conditions or limited mobility.
They'll run across the borough's leisure centres. Classes include seated exercise, strength and balance, active health circuits and gentle movement.
They are led by a qualified instructor and provide a supportive space for people to be active to better manage their health and wellbeing.
Classes can be accessed with a monthly membership, or £4.50 pay as you go. For more information contact send the team an email.
 Paint and sip at Black Swan Lake
Join the team at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst to recreate your very own painting of Black Swan Lake on Wednesday 16 July from 7pm to 9.30pm.
Weather permitting, you will be set up on the balcony of The Coffee Deck to capture the views of the lake and create your own masterpiece.
- Paint classes offers a one of a kind experience which are fun and relaxing
- Recreate classic Bob Ross style paintings
- Mingle with colleagues or friends and get to know each other in a creative environment
- Create your own masterpiece
- Great fun regardless of your skill level

 Bathe in the glory of California Country Park
We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with The Forest Bathing Institute to bring introductory walks to California Country Park in Finchampstead.
The Forest Bathing Walks consist a two-and-a-half-hour gentle walk under the canopy of trees, among beautiful woodland.
You will be guided through a series of sensory exercises designed to develop a deeper connection with nature, calming your body and mind, before concluding with a guided relaxation.
Each session costs £36, which includes three and a half hours of car parking. The upcoming walks this summer include:
- Sunday 13 July, 10.30am to 1pm
- Saturday 2 August, 10.30am to 1pm

 Climate comedy night with People, Planet, Pint
Join climate comedian Matt Winning for the People, Planet, Pint comedy special at The Rose Inn in Wokingham tonight.
The free event at the pub in Market Place follows a series of sold-out Edinburgh Fringe shows from the University College London lecturer. It runs from 7pm on Wednesday 9 July, spaces should be booked in advance.
This on top of People, Planet, Pint's regular meet-ups in Wokingham,which also take place at The Rose Inn.
 Summer writing sessions come to Wokingham Library
Two writing workshops for children aged 11 to 18 are running at Wokingham Library this summer.

Flights of Fantasy – 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 26 July – create your own magical world, set your characters off on a courageous quest and explore how fantasy and escapism intertwine

A Dystopian Reflection – 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 2 August – create your own dystopian society, write a story of characters fighting back against it and capture the similarities and differences with real life
Sessions are run by Igniting Writing. Anyone attending should bring lunch with them.
 Wokingham Waterside Centre open day
Wokingham Waterside Centre is hosting an open day on Sunday 20 July, starting at 10am.
There will be raft building, dragon boating, axe throwing, orienteering, paddleboarding and kayaking to try. These can be booked in advanced.
Activities are for ages eight and above unless accompanied by a parent in the same craft.
