 Report on our borough’s pharmacies
How do you access and use pharmacies in Wokingham Borough? This July, let us know as part of a report looking into the provision of services for the next three years.
Thank you for giving your views...
 On our budget
Our consultation on the council spending for 2026/27 has now closed and we have begun to look through the responses. Like local councils across the country, we are facing a difficult financial situation with the funding we get not keeping up with the increasing cost of providing services needed - so it was great to see so many residents giving their views. We regularly host engagements on our Engage Wokingham Borough website, so check back often to get involved with changes being made to our local area.
The budget consultation outlined how around 80% of the money we spend is on things we legally must do, such as providing social care to adults and children who need support.
Key findings
We asked you to rank the areas where we do have a choice over how much we spend, based on what you feel is a priority and requires the most funding. The more supported areas included helping local businesses and supporting people struggling with the cost of living.
We also asked participants to rank council services in order of importance to them. Among the more supported areas were keeping our roads, footpaths and cycle paths in good conditions and keeping our community facilities open.
When asked about whether you would rather pay more for a service you use or accept lower standards and reduced services, 65% said they would rather pay more to maintain the current service and standards.
Next steps
We are now analysing your feedback from the questionnaire and will be writing a report to help us as we look at our budget for next year.
We will invite you to read the report when it has been finalised.
Your feedback will help us come up with proposals for savings and efficiencies, which we will ask for your views on before the budget goes before Full Council for approval early next year.

 Road scheme communication
We heard from some of you at a drop-in meeting discussing the new South Wokingham Distributor Road scheme.
You suggested we could communicate to you better about the project. We’ve taken your feedback on board and revamped pages on our website.
We’ll continue updating that section of our website as work on the scheme is completed. We’re also creating a timeline for you, listing the scheme’s impacts, like road closures, in one easy place. We’ll share it with you as soon as we can.
For regular updates on the Distributor Road scheme, you can subscribe to our South Wokingham newsletter.
 Repainting zebra crossing
You reported your concerns to us, regarding faded white lines on a zebra crossing in Easthampstead Road, in Wokingham town centre.
At the crossing, in between the Easthampstead Road East and West car parks, we have now repainted them.
If you have a worry about a road or footway in the borough, you can report your concern to us on our website.
