Call for Forest of Imagination feedback
Thanks to the hundreds of residents who joined us for Forest of Imagination at Dinton Pastures last month.
The showcase weekend saw people gather at the country park in Hurst to celebrate nature through arts, culture and education to help imagine and create a better and more sustainable future.
If you attended, we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the installations, workshops and what you thought of the showcase weekend more generally.
Lots of laughs at Dinton comedy night
You can enjoy something different at Dinton Pastures by joining us at its latest comedy night.
Following a sell-out show earlier this year, we’re offering another evening of entertainment at Dinton Activity Centre in Hurst, off Sandford Lane.
Andrew Bird, Keefy Jewell and Hajar J Woodland join MC Jonathan Elston for the event in partnership with Laughter Craft Comedy.
Food and drink available on the evening from 6pm. Comedy starts at 7.30pm.
Suitable for over 18s only. Tickets are £15. Book by emailing the Events Team.
Four routes to test your pedal power at bikeathon
The Wokingham Bikeathon is returning to Cantley Park on Sunday 22 June, allowing you to pedal on the best quiet lanes in Wokingham and the surrounding area.
There are four routes to enjoy on the day, ranging from 15 to 51 miles, depending on what you’re comfortable with. There will be drink stops and toilets on all the routes.
There are also refreshments, other activities and attractions on site at Cantley Park for the start and end of each route.
It’s been running for almost 20 years with thousands of riders taking part each time.
It’s now open to register for cyclists of all ages, with tickets £5 or free for children with a paying adult, and £20 for adults. This year's event is raising money for The Cowshed, a local charity that helps people in crisis.
If you feel unable to pay this cost for any reason, email the team for assistance. The organisers want to remove barriers to cycling, so while needing to cover costs, they don’t want that to stop anyone taking part.
Our My Journey Wokingham team will be there with their smoothie bike and stand for active travel advice and leaflets.
Tribute festival with party atmosphere returns in July
Get ready to sing and dance the night away as the Marvellous Festival returns for the weekend of 19 and 20 July at Dinton Pastures Country Park.
Marvellous is a tribute act festival where music fans and festival-goers are invited to spend the weekend having fun in a safe, outdoor space.
Festival goers can enjoy 14 world-class tribute artists, free activities for the kids, a silent disco marquee, fairground rides and more.
There are day and weekend tickets available to purchase on the Marvellous website. Children under five years old can attend for free but must be booked in advance.
Green Week guided walk at Heath Lake
We’re hosting a guided walk around Heath Lake in Wokingham Without as part of Crowthorne Parish Council’s Green Week events later this month.
Our countryside team will take you around the Site of Special Scientific Interest, the highest designation of nature reserves in England. They’ll take you through how the area is looked after and its unique ecosystem.
Meet at Heath Lake car park for a 10am start on Saturday 14 June, with the tour and question period due to finish by 1pm.
A full list of events for the parish council’s Green Week can be found on its website.

Footpaths to stay shut for safety reasons
All public footpaths off Finchampstead Road, Gipsy Lane, Luckley Road and the private Ludgrove access track may be closed until mid-2026 at the earliest as part of our South Wokingham Distributor Road project.
Anyone who uses these routes should use the alternative routes shown in the diagram above, which will soon be displayed on signs at the site boundary.
Last month, we also closed the eastern end of the Ludgrove track so construction traffic can cross it using a new temporary road.
There'll be an alternative vehicle entrance off Heathlands Road but this won't be suitable for cyclists or pedestrians. We hope to reopen the track by this autumn.
Another footpath east of Finchampstead Road, which runs from the Heathlands Road junction to the Waterloo Road roundabout, will also close later this year.
We'll announce a date nearer the time and share more details, including the expected timeframe and alternative routes. Read our latest South Wokingham community newsletter for more details.
