Wokingham Borough Connect
We don't have any current consultations, but read on to learn about how your feedback helped us make better decisions for borough residents.
You said, we did...
 Lower speed limits following consultation
We reduced the speed limit to 30mph on several roads across the borough to make them safer.
At a meeting last week, our executive member for active travel, transport and highways approved proposals for 30mph limits on:
- Parts of the A329 Reading Road in Wokingham town and Winnersh
- Hollow Lane in Shinfield
- The A327 Arborfield Road in Shinfield
- Bearwood Road in Barkham
- The A327 Reading Road, New Mill Lane and Park Lane in Finchampstead
We consulted on these changes and got lots of responses supporting them, and we agree that slower speeds will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
This is important as we want to do all we can to promote sustainable alternatives to driving, both for people's health and to address the climate emergency.
 Reviewing feedback on Community Governance
Thank you to everyone who took part in the first stage of our Community Governance Review.
The initial consultation ran from 30 January to 25 April, asking residents to give their views on the current arrangements for the towns and parishes in Wokingham Borough.
We asked about issues such as warding arrangements and the number of councillors that represent their area.
We received 143 responses through our Engage Wokingham Borough platform, as well as 12 written responses, consisting mainly of representations from town and parish councils.
We are now in the process of considering submissions and will prepare a report of draft recommendations. This will then be put to Council in July. We will undertake a second public consultation on the draft recommendations later in the year.
Submissions from the initial consultation will be published in the near future on Engage.
Digital access survey sees big response
A survey for Berkshire residents about their access to the internet saw a great response rate from Wokingham borough.
There were 1,634 responses in total from across the six Berkshire local authority areas, with the highest number (489) coming from our residents.
The short was launched to gather feedback on broadband, mobile coverage, online access and the barriers to digital access.
