Wokingham Borough Connect
Junction to close as new road progresses
Don't forget we're partially closing the junction of Finchampstead Road and Molly Millars Lane in Wokingham over two weekends next month.
We need these closures to build a bigger roundabout at this junction, to support construction of the South Wokingham Distributor Road.
There'll be a longer period of closure from late July onwards, which is expected to run until early next year.
The upcoming weekend closures will take place as follows, while our partners at Balfour Beatty install underground utility pipes and cables.:
Each closure starts at 6am Saturday and ends by 6am Monday, though we’ll reopen earlier if work finishes ahead of schedule. Access to homes and businesses will remain open with a signed diversion in place.
Don't miss the latest news about the South Wokingham Distributor Road - if you or anyone you know is likely to be affected, we'll send any urgent updates through our South Wokingham community newsletter.

Temporary disruption to help Sikh community celebrate origins
There'll be road closures in our borough and Reading on Sunday 4 May as our Sikh communities host a celebratory procession, or Nagar Kirtan.
The event includes the singing of holy songs and will mark Vaisakhi, an annual event that commemorates the birth of the Sikh faith and community, or Panth.
The closures will be rolling, with roads reopening in the order shown below once the procession has passed.
They'll run from 11am until 3pm along the following route:
- Cumberland Road >
- A4 London Road >
- A329 Wokingham Road >
- B3350 Church Road >
- Culver Lane >

Town centre closures to support the fun of the Fayre
Denmark Street and Market Place in Wokingham will be closed from 6am to 7pm on Monday 5 May for the Wokingham Lions Club's annual May Fayre.
This much-loved event will open at 10am and includes a children's funfair and farm, ferret racing, Morris dancing and food and drink stalls.
There'll be scores of market stalls along Denmark Street and Erfstadt Court, a picnic area on Elms Field and an events marquee with live music and other entertainment.
All proceeds from the afternoon will benefit local charities.
Diversions for Bank Holiday run across Shinfield parish
There'll also be road closures and diversions across Shinfield, Three Mile Cross and Spencers Wood on Monday 5 May for the Reading Roadrunners' Shinfield 10K.
The main race starts at 9.30am, followed by a series of junior races from 11.30am.
Planning to travel further afield over the early May Bank Holiday weekend? Make sure you check for disruption before heading off using the National Highways and National Rail websites.
Date announced for improved bus route
The number 3 bus between Wokingham town and Barkham, Finchampstead and Arborfield will be more frequent from Monday 19 May.
Reading Buses will run the service up to every 30 minutes on this section between 6.30am and 7pm, and on Saturdays between 8am and 6pm.
The Sunday timetable is also being improved, with buses now running directly to Wokingham hourly between 8.30am and 8pm.
Thames Valley Science Park in Shinfield will now be served by buses that run to and from Wokingham on Monday to Fridays, providing a new direct link.
There'll still be buses up to every 15 minutes between Reading and Shinfield, via Royal Berkshire Hospital, with minor changes to allow for the route extensions.
Listening to your needs and supporting sustainable travel
Reading Buses is already running an hourly service on the 3 on a commercial basis, including more frequent journeys between Arborfield and Reading.
We tendered for a contract to run the Wokingham to Arborfield stage more frequently earlier this year, following feedback from residents.
The weekday and Saturday daytime improvements have been funded through contributions from developers building new housing in the borough.
The Sunday and weekday evening journeys are Government funded through our Bus Service Improvement Plan, working in partnership with Reading Buses.
The first in a series of guided cycle rides for adults will take place tomorrow (Friday 25 April) to help prepare for the Wokingham Bikeathon, which takes place on Sunday, 23 June and is now open to registrations from cyclists of all ages. To take part in the guided rides, be sure to book in advance.
