Wokingham Borough Connect
Community lottery launch event a great success
Last Thursday, many local businesses, charities and not for profit organisations joined us at the launch of the Wokingham Borough Community Lottery event. The event took place at the Town Hall in Market Place, Wokingham.
At the launch, organisations learnt about the lottery scheme, how to sign up as good causes and how they can help their community with sponsorship opportunities and more.
The Community Lottery scheme will raise money for local good causes, whilst supporting the ambitions within the Community Vision (2025-2035).
All good causes supported by the lottery will benefit the borough and its residents. For every £1 lottery ticket bought, at least 50p will go to good causes. People who purchase a lottery ticket can select a good cause to support – and the good cause could be your organisation.
Sign up today
We’ve had many organisations sign up as good causes and there is still time to sign up or sponsor the lottery.
Your business can help by:
- Donating prizes
- Buying tickets for your employees
- Setting up a work syndicate and purchasing tickets
If you are interested in signing up as a good cause or would like more information, email the Community Lottery Team at community.lottery@wokingham.gov.uk
 Corporate packages for Marvellous Festival
We’re working with Marvellous Festival to provide packages for groups, especially those looking to entertain clients or take your team away.
Marvellous Festival is the UK’s biggest and longest running tribute festival and is returning again this year to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Wokingham, on 18 and 19 July.
Our events team is working with the festival to offer discounted tickets and free parking for corporate groups, with sponsorship options and hospitality available to personalise it for your group.
Packages are available for one-day or two-day tickets, or make it a full weekend and get the glamping experience. For more information please contact our events team on eventbookings@wokingham.gov.uk
Best Pilates Studio in Berkshire 2025
Power of Pilates in Lower Earley, Reading has been named Best Pilates Studio in Berkshire in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2025, a prestigious regional award that celebrates the very best independent businesses across the county.
Standing out in a competitive field and beating several other top studios in the area, Power of Pilates earned the win thanks to overwhelming support from the local community, who voted in their hundreds. It’s a meaningful milestone for a studio that has served the Reading area for 18 years.
Founded by Claire Roberts, Power of Pilates has grown from its early days in church halls to a purpose-built, two-floor studio offering both mat and reformer Pilates. Known for its expert team, inclusive atmosphere, and results-driven classes, the studio has become a cornerstone of the local wellness scene.
2025 is already shaping up to be a landmark year for the studio, which was also awarded the status of a BASI Host Studio—one of only four in the UK—allowing it to deliver internationally recognised Pilates instructor training courses.
With strong community backing and national recognition, Power of Pilates continues to raise the bar in Berkshire’s Pilates landscape.
