Last chance to join Covid-memorial tree planting
More than 150 residents have signed up to join us for planting the Covid-19 Memorial Woodland later this week.
The 7.7-hectare plot, which lies immediately north of California Country Park, will become a lasting tribute to those we lost during the coronavirus pandemic.
There’s still time to sign up for some sessions later this week:
Feedback wanted on garden village plans
The University of Reading wants feedback on Loddon Garden Village, a strategic development location that could deliver at least 2,700 homes by 2040.
Your ideas and view will be important as the university evolves the proposals in preparation for outline planning applications, which will be submitted later this year.
You can find out more at its in-person events:
In addition to in-person events, you can also submit your comments online.
 Roof repairs at Peach Place
Scaffolding has gone up around one of our buildings in Wokingham while we carry out repairs.
Work started this week on the buildings in Market Place and Bush Walk, above the Boots and Peach Dental Care units, as well as the vacant unit at 1 Bush Walk.
The scaffolding will be in place for up to six weeks while our contractors do the work to the roof and render on the buildings.
Volunteer at a borough library and make a difference

Volunteering benefits the library service and makes a huge difference in the local community.
There are also a range of personal benefits, including meeting new people, developing skills and gaining experience for your CV and having fun while making a difference to your local community.
Your electricity meter could be due to switch off
Households and businesses in Wokingham Borough who use the Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) are being urged to switch to a new smart meter.
The service uses a radio signal to manage peak and off-peak electricity rates for older meters, especially for electrical storage systems and heaters.
If you have an RTS meter, your energy supplier will contact you to schedule the installation of a new meter before the service ends on 30 June. RTS is being switched off as it has been deemed outdated and the equipment can no longer be maintained.
Ofgem expects all energy suppliers to replace RTS electricity meters before the service ends. There is no fee for replacing your current system with a smart meter.
If you know someone who you think might have an RTS meter encourage them to get it replaced as soon as possible. If you are unsure if you have RTS equipment, contact your electricity supplier, who will be able to confirm for you.
You can also watch a video on how to identify if you have a RTS meter on the Ofgem website.
