 Help create Covid Memorial Woodland
Join us in planting trees to create a beautiful woodland that will stand as a symbol of hope and remembrance.
The 7.7-hectare plot, which lies immediately north of California Country Park, will become a lasting tribute to those we lost during the coronavirus pandemic.
We will hold two planting sessions every day from Wednesday 19 March to Saturday 22 March, starting at 9.30am and 1pm.
Numbers are limited for each session and some are already full. Sign up now for your preferred timeslot.
The Covid Memorial Woodland has been our long-held ambition, giving residents a place to pay their respects and reflect. It will also help us build on our commitment to making the borough carbon neutral.
A new hub for volunteering roles at our libraries
If you want to find out what volunteering opportunities we have at our libraries, our vacancies are now listed in one place.
You can visit our new page on Engage Wokingham Borough to find out more about the roles on offer. The page will be updated regularly and you will be kept informed about anything you have registered interest in.
Whether it is leading a Rhymetime session or being part of our Home Library Service, there is something for everyone and roles are often flexible to suit your schedule.
We currently have opportunities to help us with:
- LEGO Club
- Rhymetime
- Home Library Service
- Igniting Writing
- Tea and Tales
Volunteering benefits the library service and makes a huge difference in the local community. There are also a range of personal benefits, including meeting new people, developing skills and gaining experience for your CV and having fun while making a difference to your local community.
If you ever need more information about a specific role or have any questions, send us an email.
 Community Governance Review
We are seeking feedback on the current arrangements for the towns and parishes in our borough to ensure people are represented as effectively as possible.
The Community Governance Review is carried out every ten to 15 years and reviews things such as ward boundaries and the number of councillors that represent an area.
Using local knowledge, we will review recommendations and determine if there are any changes that could be made to benefit communities.
Our initial consultation will run until Friday 25 April.
How do you use the internet?
As you know, reliable broadband and mobile connectivity are essential for both work and everyday life. We’re committed to ensuring that everyone in Berkshire has access to the digital skills and services they need, but to do that, the Berkshire local authorities need to hear from the people who use them.
A short survey has been launched to gather feedback on broadband, mobile coverage, online access and barriers to digital across the county. Your input will help shape future improvements.
Your voice can make a real difference. Together, we can help improve digital connectivity and access for everyone.
The survey is open until 12 midnight on Wednesday 16 April.

Have your say on our Nature Recovery Strategy
You’re invited to share your views on our strategy, which will set out the actions to protect biodiversity in local areas, reduce the impact of climate change and boost the benefits of local nature.
We're working with our partners across Berkshire on this, and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is leading on the project.
Berkshire has a beautifully diverse landscape and feedback from residents, landowners and communities will help us create the right strategy to assist nature recovery across our county.
Taking the survey
Leave your comments and add your pins to the Local Habitat Map for Berkshire by Monday 24 March.

 Update on Economic Development Strategy
Last year, we asked for your views as we updated our strategy to keep improving the borough’s economic prosperity. Thank you for your valuable contributions in helping shape our Economic Development Strategy.
The strategy document, along with its technical annex, is now available on our Engage Wokingham Borough website.
This updated strategy sets a clear economic vision for our borough through 2035 and provides a comprehensive evidence base for our Economic Development Team.
It will guide the creation of a detailed action plan with targeted initiatives aimed at strengthening the borough's economy. Achieving these goals will require significant cross-departmental collaboration and engagement with external stakeholders.
Other chances to have your say
Consultations that are not run by Wokingham Borough Council but may be of interest to residents:
Loddon Garden Village
The University of Reading wants feedback on Loddon Garden Village, a strategic development location that could deliver at least 2,700 homes by 2040.
Your ideas and feedback will be important as the university evolves the proposals in preparation for outline planning applications, which will be submitted later this year.
In addition to in-person events, you can also submit your comments online.
Have your say about online access to general practice
Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire & Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) has heard from residents that they would like online access to general practice to be easier to use and more consistent.
Online access systems are platforms that enable patients to get help and advice from their GP practice without needing to visit in person.
BOB ICB is currently selecting an online consultation system to provide to GP practices across our area. Please help by spending a few minutes in completing the survey, which will close on Sunday 16 March.
