Free arts activities to inspire climate action
We are excited to bring the award-winning Forest of Imagination arts project to the borough, thanks to a grant from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Wokingham Borough’s Forest of Imagination 2025 offers a wide range of free arts and cultural experiences for residents to connect with nature and learn about the climate emergency.
Kicking these off are engaging sessions led by Toby Thompson, an award-winning poet, musician and global storyteller.
One of these is taking place at Lower Earley Library on Saturday 8 March from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. It is free to attend but places must be booked in advance.
The project continues with a four-day showcase at Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst, from 22 to 25 May, featuring sensory installations, participatory activities, performances, digital experiences and more.
Wokingham Borough’s Forest of Imagination 2025 is a collaboration between us, Bath Spa University, House of Imagination and Grant Associates. Together, we bring the project outside of Bath, its original home, to raise awareness about the climate crisis.
Focus on reading for fun with World Book Day
This year, World Book Day takes place on Thursday 6 March, celebrating authors, illustrators and the joy that reading brings.
It provides us with an opportunity to focus on reading for pleasure and giving children freedom of choice in what they read.
We will be holding special Storytime sessions to celebrate World Book Day and the 45th anniversary of Peace at Last by Jill Murphy, a funny story about a bear who was unable to fall asleep
Sessions will be held at:
- Finchampstead Library, Tuesday 4 March, 4pm to 4.30pm
- Wokingham Library, Tuesday 4 March, 4pm to 4.30pm
- Lower Earley Library, Thursday 6 March, 4pm to 4.30pm
- Woodley Library, Monday 24 March, 10am to 10.30am
Registration is not required and it is free to attend. Bring along a teddy and wear your comfy clothes.
You can find out more by reading our blog article on World Book Day.
