Wokingham Borough Connect
Sample Chinese traditions and mark Lunar New Year
Celebrate the Lunar New Year with music, dancing, street food and much more.
Organised by Wokingham Town Council, join in the fun at this free event on Sunday 9 February in Market Place from 11am to 3pm.
Artists from across the south have been drafted in to help make it a special day, including the Pak-Mei UK Lion Dance Troupe, who will be performing the spectacular lion dance.
The dance is one of the most important traditions at Chinese New Year and in Chinese culture the lion symbolises power, wisdom and superiority.
Wokingham Baptist Church Hongkongers will be offering traditional Chinese calligraphy, crafts and activities relating to the New Year. There will also be circus skills and a group art project in the town hall.
Denmark Street will be closed all day to allow for the celebrations, so please factor this into your travel plans.
