Extra time to have your say on getting active locally
The deadline for responses to our survey about the sport and exercise opportunities available locally has been extended.
We are working in partnership with Sport England to understand your views about physical activity, including what challenges you face in getting moving and staying active.
The aim is to identify any gaps that exist and to make improvements so everyone has the ability to get active and stay healthy.
We are running a short survey, which is anonymous and there is no sign up required to take part. You now have until Monday 4 November to share your thoughts.
Dashing through the park and laughing all the way
Mark your calendars for Sunday 8 December when the popular Dinton Santa Dash will be returning.
The annual tradition will see Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst transformed by fundraising runners dressed as Father Christmas.
It is festive and suitable for the whole family, with a medal, mince pie and chocolates for those who cross the finish line.
There is no minimum age requirement. You and your children can choose to complete a 2km Mini-Dash or a full 5km Santa Dash together, both of which are not timed.
Taking part in the run will also help children in need, as £2 of each entry will be donated directly to First Days Children’s Charity. Sign up now before it’s full!

Put yourself in control with mental health support
Supported Self Help is a free mental health support service open to anyone aged 18 and above.
Run by Mind in Berkshire, it is a free, six-week guided programme that gives you the tools to understand and manage your feelings and you don't need a GP referral to sign up.
It could help if you are struggling with issues such as anxiety, grief, loneliness, low self esteem, stress and depression.
This is a one-to-one guided self help service, not a counselling service. It incorporates some cognitive behavioural therapy style tools, but also provides other kinds of support.
To find out more about Supported Self Help, visit the Mind website.
Get the help you need to give up smoking for good
Did you know that you are five times more likely to quit smoking for good if you can make it to 28 days smoke-free?
In Wokingham Borough, we have one of the lowest smoking prevalence rates in the entire country, but we still want to do all we can to help. Stoptober may be coming to an end, but support is still available to help smokers to quit for good.
It has already helped more than two million people across the country to give up smoking. There is lots of help and advice available from the NHS to get you started.
Pop-up clinics run at:
- Morrisons Superstore, Woosehilll Shopping Centre, Smokefree van in car park, on Fridays, 9am to 5.30pm
- Woodley Library, on Thursdays, 9am to 7pm
- Tesco Wokingham, the pod outside entrance or inside Costa, on Fridays, 9am to 5pm
You can also find your nearest clinic online.
Locally, free support can be accessed from Smokefreelife Berkshire, which offers a ‘Quitline’ with weekly consultation via text, telephone or video chat. There is also a free 12-week programme of nicotine replacement therapy with behavioural support.
