Halloween is more than just trick-or-treating! This year, let’s celebrate differently.
Join us at Dinton Activity Centre for two new activities that bring Halloween to the great outdoors.
Halloween Pumpkin Hunt
Come along on an exciting 2km adventure at Dinton Pastures, where you’ll hunt for hidden pumpkins along the trail.
From Saturday 26 October to Monday 3 November, get a trail map and activity sheet for £2.50 at Dinton Activity Centre, so you can start a spooktacular journey around the country park with your children. After completing the mission, return to the activity centre to get a sweet treat.
The activity is suitable for children of all ages, and all paths are wheelchair and buggy accessible.
Remember to get a map for each child, so everyone gets a treat. Book online before you go. Tickets are valid for any day of the event and aren't restricted to a specific date.
Halloween Night Paddle
This special, night-time guided paddling session on Sunday 27 October is suitable for adults and children aged eight and above.
Led by our experienced instructor, you’ll embark on a spooky journey across Black Swan Lake on a boat of your choice - stand-up paddleboard, canoe or kayak. It will be filled with fun, surprises and games set by 'ghosts and ghouls' along the way.
Wetsuits will be provided, however, we recommend bringing your own head torch and extra layers to stay warm.
Booking is now open online.
Outdoor adventures for October half term
Our Wild Days holiday club will keep your children entertained during the upcoming October half term, from Monday 28 October to Friday 1 November.
Led by our experienced instructors from Dinton Activity Centre, the action-packed three-hour sessions are tailored for children aged eight to 13. Activities on offer include fencing, indoor climbing, archery, raft building, kayaking, canoeing and more.
Each session costs £32 per person. Reserve a place online.
 Dinton footpath upgrades begin
We have begun work to upgrade the footpaths at White Swan Lake at Dinton Pastures in phases.
The upgrade involves levelling the paths and tarmacking the routes from the overflow car park to the River Loddon bridge and from the overflow car park to Herons Water Lake. Afterward, both sections will be finished with tarring and pea shingling.
During this period, certain sections of the footpaths will be temporarily closed. The entire project is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
 Safe haven for owls
We'd like to thank the Earley Town Council for reinstalling three owl boxes at Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve recently.
These owl boxes, which were locally made and donated to the reserve a few years ago, provide a home for species such as tawny owls. Unfortunately, the boxes had fallen as the ropes holding them had weathered over time.
With the help of tree surgeons, the town council’s park rangers have now reinstalled the boxes using weather-resistant ropes. This effort has once again made the boxes a safe haven for our wildlife.
