What's coming up
We know we said the next and final newsletter would be sent once all works were completed, but we wanted to update you on a change to our works this week.
The team have been working overnight throughout this week to complete the remaining works, trying reduce disruption as much as possible.
We had scheduled for the leaf pattern to be installed onto the road surface overnight tonight (Thursday 12 September) and tomorrow (Friday 13 September) but with these types of works, it is always weather dependent as they require optimum weather conditions.
The leaf pattern sections are a different material to normal lining work and need to be laid on a completely dry surface. There’s currently too much residual moisture sitting on the road and the forecast is not good for the remainder of this week.
These works have therefore been rescheduled to take place overnight early next week - at the moment we are looking at Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night but this will be dependent on the weather.
What's been happening
Resurfacing works have been taking place overnight this week, removing the existing surface and leveling out the road prior to the resurfacing works taking place.
As you can see from the photos, the team have also been carrying out the white lining works this week too as we prepare for the leaf design to now be installed next week.
Give way to the right
All the usual highway code rules apply at California crossroads. The ‘hierarchy of road users’ is a concept that places those road users most at risk at the top of the hierarchy.
We would ask that all drivers, cyclist and pedestrians take extra care while everyone gets used to the new layout. Drivers will benefit from allowing additional space between them and car in front, who may be stopping to allow pedestrians to cross.
