Shape your town and village centres to thrive
We want to hear your views on how Twyford village centre, Wokingham and Woodley town centres are being used.
We’re developing a new Town Centre Strategy, which will set a clear vision for our town and village centres, guiding how we support them to grow and thrive.
There are two versions of the survey, one for residents and the other for business owners to complete.
Your feedback will be reflected in the draft strategy, which we will be creating with local councils for Twyford, Wokingham and Woodley.
Once approved, an action plan will be developed to outline what we will do to achieve the priorities and objectives set out.

Last chance – register for lower cost solar panels
There's a few days left to sign up for the Solar Together scheme, which helps to make it easier and cheaper for you to install solar panels and battery storage to your house.
The deadline to express your interest is Friday (13 September). Registering gets you a free, no-obligation quote for the rough cost. Follow the steps online to check if your house is suitable for solar panels and how Solar Together works.
You could save up to 43 per cent off the cost of your solar panel system. The savings were calculated based on the typical market prices over the last six months.
Almost 5,000 households have got a quote as part of the scheme in the two rounds we’ve run since last summer.
RSV vaccine for older people and pregnant women
A new vaccination programme is being rolled out by the NHS to help protect those who are most vulnerable to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
RSV is an infectious disease of the airways and lungs and often causes symptoms similar to a cold. However, it can be especially dangerous for infants and the elderly, causing hospitalisations or even deaths.
Vaccinations will be offered to two groups:
- Pregnant women (from 28 weeks, speak to your maternity service or GP surgery to get your vaccine)
- Older adults aged 75 to 79 (everyone turning 75 on or after 1 September 2024 will be offered the vaccine by their surgery)
The vaccine will be available all year, but winter will be when the illness spreads most easily.
Buses are gearing up to go electric
Electric buses will be coming to Wokingham Borough. Leader of the council Cllr Stephen Conway and executive member for active travel, transport and highways Cllr Paul Fishwick had a behind the scenes look at a zero-emissions electric bus at a visit to the Reading Buses depot.
The bus is similar to a new fleet of 24 electric vehicles bought by the company following a successful bid to the Government earlier this year, which we supported.
The new buses are expected to enter our network on Route 21 during the winter of 2025/26. It supports our ambition to reduce carbon emissions in the borough by providing a cleaner active travel option.
Find out more about the benefits of bus and other types of sustainable travel on our My Journey webpage.
