Wokingham Borough Connect
Last chance to sign up for Solar Together scheme
There's still time to sign up for our Solar Together initiative as, following feedback, the registration deadline has been extended until Friday 13 September.
Solar Together provides homeowners and small-medium business owners the chance to install solar panels and battery storage through a group-buying scheme to secure competitive prices. It's the only group buying scheme operating locally.
It only takes five minutes to register your interest and receive a no-commitment offer through the scheme.
Choosing an installer can be quite daunting, but Solar Together uses trusted and vetted installers, which ensures consumer protection and competitive pricing. After you've registered, you'll receive an email confirmation and then a detailed personalised offer from a vetted installer.
 Start your electric vehicle journey
Save the date for a free event where you can dive into the world of electric vehicles (EVs), e-bikes and e-cargo bikes.
The event will be held on Saturday 21 September, between 9am and 1pm, at Elms Field in Wokingham town centre. It is jointly organised by us, Let's Experience Electric and Wokingham Town Council.
At this event, you'll have a chance to
- Test drive EVs, e-bikes and e-cargo bikes first-hand from local dealerships
- Find out more about grants available to help you switch to EVs or install chargepoints
- Talk to experts specialising in EVs and associated charging infrastructure
- Discover active travel options including e-Bikes and e-Cargo bikes
- Learn about the EV infrastructure in our borough, and help shape our public EV chargepoint network
To participate in the EV test drives, you must carry a valid driver's license for a minimum of two years and be over 21 years of age. Your licence will be required on the day, plus your national insurance number for checking.
Join Cycle September as a workplace
Did you know Love to Ride's annual Cycle September is also a workplace challenge?
The aim of Cycle September is to get more people to enjoy the benefits of riding bikes. You can ride anywhere, anytime in September to participate.
All you have to do is to register your workplace online and bring your team together to work on a common goal – logging their bike trips, getting more people on bikes and riding to the top of the leaderboard.
It doesn’t matter if employees are in the office, working from home, or working full or part-time. They can all earn points and contribute to your workplace's total score.
There are amazing prizes up for grabs for anyone who takes part, regardless of their riding experience.
This year, there is a £1,000 bike from Berkshire Bikes to be won for Wokingham participants in Cycle September.

 Free webinar on cybersecurity
Don't miss the opportunity to strengthen your cybersecurity posture and safeguard the future of your business.

An informative and interactive online session, hosted by South East Cyber Crime Unit, will be held on Monday 30 September at 6pm, to equip small to medium-sized businesses with knowledge and resources to stay ahead of cyber threats and protect your organization's assets.
Find out more or reserve a spot online.
