Last chance to sign up for Solar Together scheme
There is still time to sign up for our Solar Together initiative as, following feedback, the registration deadline has been extended until Friday 13 September.
Solar Together provides homeowners and small/medium business owners the chance to install solar panels and battery storage through a group-buying scheme to secure competitive prices. It is the only group buying scheme operating locally.
It only takes five minutes to register your interest and receive a no-commitment offer through the scheme.
Choosing an installer can be quite daunting, but Solar Together uses trusted and vetted installers, which ensures consumer protection and competitive pricing. After you have registered, you will receive an email confirmation and then a detailed personalised offer from a vetted installer.
Help us to celebrate 100 years of Wokingham Library
Did you know that there has been a library in Wokingham for nearly 100 years? We are really excited to be celebrating this huge milestone on Thursday 5 September.
Join us at the library from 10am to 11.30am for a charity coffee morning, as we look back on a century of serving the community. The event will be raising money for SHARE Wokingham, which redistributes food to those in need that would otherwise go to waste.
There will be displays all about the history of Wokingham Library, which has had four different homes.
Keep an eye out on the libraries Facebook page for details of more activities taking place for the 100th anniversary.

There are also workplace prizes, as well as goodies such as sweaters, T-shirts and more.

Be a part of social care discussion at Big Gathering
Are you interested in being part of changing the face of adult social care across the borough? If so, why not come along to our next Big Gathering on Thursday 3 October, at the Oakwood Centre in Woodley.
This free event is for people who draw on social care, as well as their families. It’s an opportunity to hear more about Social Care Future and what’s been achieved since our first Big Gathering event.
There will be a choice of different sessions you can join on the day. The topics link to the themes we heard from residents that came to our 'community conversation' events earlier this year, such as navigating local support and understanding the housing process.
There will also be fun activities to try and delicious food from Ability Catering. If you are coming by yourself, there’s a warm welcome at The Link Visiting Scheme's Friendship Table over lunch.
Spaces to attend the Big Gathering are limited and need to be booked in advance. To find out more or book a space for the event, email getinvolved@wokingham.gov.uk or call (0118) 977 8600.
Advertise to people for weddings and events
We are keen to meet events and celebration suppliers in the borough who are looking to reach new clients.
We have lots of opportunities to promote what you do to people registering to get married, using local celebration venues or having other ceremonies in the borough. Suppliers could be from any related business, such as:
- Cake makers, bakers and catering suppliers
- Beauticians, hair and make-up specialists
- Photographers
- Bridal shops and suit hire
- Florists and event design services
- Toastmasters
- Stationery and printing services
- DJs and bands
- Wedding organisers
If this is you or your business and you’d like to find out more about how we can help you reach your target audience, as well as the rates and space available, send us an enquiry with a short outline to your business and/or a link to more information your services.
