Wokingham Borough Connect
Get on your bike this Cycle September
It's quick, free and easy to sign up for Love to Ride's annual Cycle September challenge, which we're supporting to help people travel more sustainably.
All you have to do is register and start logging your trips - which you can do all year round as part of the Love to Ride campaign, but there are loads of extra rewards for doing it in September.
This year there is a £1,000 bike from Berkshire Bikes to be won for Wokingham Borough participants in Cycle September.
There's also a £1,000 cash prize for early birds who register before 31 August, a grand cash prize of £2,000 and a prize draw for those who encourage others to sign up.
There are also workplace prizes as well as goodies like sweaters, T-shirts and more.
You can log journeys and win points with the Love to Ride app (available for Apple or Android devices) or by syncing it to Strava or MapMyRide, and there are extra points for getting your friends and family on board!
SGN works in Wokingham and Earley
SGN is continuing to replace old gas pipes and we wanted to update you on works around the borough. Select the link locations below to see planned closures on a map.
Heathlands Road will re-open on Monday (2 September) and work will move to Easthampstead Road, which will be closed between the junction with Heathlands Road and Redlake Lane from Monday until later this autumn.
There will be two-way lights on the junction of Heathlands Road and Easthampstead Road. Heathlands Road is usable in both directions and businesses remain open.
This is a change to some of the information you may have seen due to SGN changing their traffic management plans.
Church Road, Earley
The road closure on Church Road has been extended due to complications on-site with extra high voltage cables running through the area. Until works start, those carrying them out don't know the location of utilities under the road surface.
At the moment we know Eastcourt Avenue junction will be open by Wednesday 4 September. We have a meeting arranged with SGN and will have further information available tomorrow on our Facebook page.
We have delayed the works requiring temporary lights between Woodlands Avenue and Charvil Lane until the road has re-opened.
Arbor Lane, Winnersh
The planned closure of Arbor Lane, Winnersh which was due to start on 2 September is no longer needed as works are being done in the grass verge. There may still be temporary traffic lights during this time but the road will remain open.
 A329(M) overnight closures for resurfacing
The A329(M) will be have some overnight closures over the next couple of weeks for resurfacing to be carried out.
From 9 to 12 September the road will be closed Bracknell bound between 8pm and 6am, from Winnersh Triangle to Coppid Beech.
