Struggling this summer? £140 to help
We’ve still got funding available to help hundreds of residents who are struggling with the cost of living.
Through the Government’s Household Support Fund you can get up to £140 to help pay for essentials like food, energy and other bills. The amount you could get depends on your situation.
We’ve received more than £500,000 to help people locally before the end of September. All are welcome to apply.
Increase your income by checking your entitlements
Have you tried the Citizens Advice Wokingham entitled to calculator? It helps you get hold of money you could be owed by the Government and other sources.
It doesn't take long to see if you could get money and other support, or see if your current support levels could change.
It's free and takes about ten minutes to complete. You'll need information on your savings, income, pensions and existing benefits for you and your partner.
Check your Pension Credit - Winter Fuel Payments
The Government announced changes to Winter Fuel Payments last month. It means many older residents will stop getting between £100 and £300 to help with their heating bills, starting this winter.
We're encouraging anyone of State Pension age (66 or older) to check if they're entitled to Pension Credit.
If you're eligible for Pension Credit, you'll still get your Winter Fuel Payments as well as a host of other support.
The average payments and support is worth £3,900, so can have a real impact on your income. We'd encourage you to check, especially if you are:
- Single person household with a weekly income under £235
- A couple, both of pension age, with a weekly income under £350
Check your eligibility online or call the Government helpline (open 8am to 6pm).
Go through a guide with right help for you
Even though the warmer months are here, many residents are now feeling the full, long-term impacts of the higher cost of living. You can follow our guides for your situation:
