Waste changes are here - help us to help you
Our household waste collections have changed, so put your waste out correctly to avoid a missed collection.
- Rubbish is collected every two weeks from your new wheeled bin, replacing weekly blue bag collections. Line your bin with any remaining blue bags
- Recycling is also collected every two weeks, on weeks when rubbish isn't collected, from the usual green bags with no limit on how many you put out
- Your food waste bin is still emptied weekly so make full use of that
Your collection day hasn't changed but some homes will start with a rubbish collection this week, while others will start with a recycling collection.
If you're unsure what to put out, check the calendar we posted or look up your address online.
Finally, remember to leave your waste at your property boundary the night before collection. On rubbish collection weeks, your black wheeled bin lid must be fully closed or it won’t be emptied.
Our crews report that most households put their waste out correctly for their first ever collections, so a huge thank-you to everyone for your support.
Bin deliveries nearing completion
We’re working to deliver the last few bins to a small number of homes who haven’t had one, and should finish by the end of this week – if not sooner.
If you’ve already reported a missed delivery, please don’t report it again unless it's urgent because you're due a rubbish collection very soon.

Nominate community heroes for Mayor’s Awards
Nominations for this year’s Mayor’s Honour Awards are now open and we want to hear about the people who make a difference to your community.
The awards are open to adults, children, young people and community groups, who work, live, study or provide services in Wokingham Borough. Each individual winner receives a lapel badge and certificate and group winners will receive a shield and certificate at a thank you event next year.
Borough Mayor Cllr Adrian Mather and Deputy Mayor Cllr Carol Jewell will select the winners from those nominated and announce them at full council meetings, which are usually held five times a year.
The deadlines for nominations are 1 September, 1 November and 1 January. Nominations should be no longer than 100 words and should set out why the nominee should be considered. The nominee’s full name and contact details should also be included.
If you know someone who deserves to be recognised, send us an email and let us know why they should be one of the lucky winners.
