Continue Ollie's legacy with annual summer fun day
The Ollie Young Foundation Summer Fun Day is back on Sunday 11 August, promising fun for all the family.
The event is being held at Reddam House in Sindlesham from 11am to 4pm in memory for Ollie, who passed away the day before his sixth birthday. The aim of the day is to raise money to fund research into brain tumours in children.
There will be music, inflatables, face painting, lots of games and stalls, licensed bar, a barbecue, crepes, cakes and much more.
Entry is free and £1 per car. You are welcome to bring along a picnic.
Book your place for paddling pool fun this summer
The paddling pool at California Country Park in Finchampstead is now open for the summer.
The pool is open daily from 10am to 5.45pm. Each session is 1 hour and 45 minutes long, so there is plenty of time to relax and cool off in the water.
Tickets cost £3.10 for all ages entering the water and £1.30 per adult who need to enter the pool area to supervise children, but not the pool itself.
Book and pay online before you go.
Chalk it up and contribute to collaborative artwork
Express your creativity and take part in Chalk About It on Wednesday 21 August.
Organised by Wokingham Town Council, this is a stimulating art-based activity, which can help residents express their feelings in a relaxed, open-air environment, where they are supported and not judged.
Join in the fun from 11am to 3pm in Market Place and contribute to a collaborative piece of art, as well as creating your own designs.
Following the success of the last three years, the event is once again being supported by professional pavement artists Urban Canvas and local mental health groups to bring the power of nature and creativity together with the theme ‘The Tree of Life’.
Fishing club's annual fundraiser in memory of Olly
A fundraising day is being hosted by South Lake Angling Society in memory of Olly Stephens.
The annual Olly Stephens Memorial Fishing Event is returning to The Waterside Pub in Woodley on Saturday 31 August, starting at 10am.
Olly, who was killed in January 2021, was a member of the fishing club and this year's event will be raising money for three charities:
There will be chances for children to have a go at fishing, a raffle and auction, as well as a bouncy castle, face painting and much more.
Be part of the final event in this year's summer series
The fourth and final instalment of the Dinton Summer Series is coming on Thursday 15 August.
Now in its 12th year, the friendly 5km and 10km running series welcomes runners of all abilities aged 13 and above. This year, your little ones can also take part and share the fun in a new 2km event, which has been added for those aged four to 14.
The course is an off-road, traffic-free, scenic route around Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst. You can choose the 5km option for a single loop around the course, or take on the 10km challenge by completing two laps.
The children's event starts at 6.15pm and the 5km and 10km events will start at 6.45pm.
