More about waste changes coming in post
The service is changing in the week beginning Monday 12 August. To help you get ready, we're posting a calendar leaflet to help you keep track of what to put out for collection.
You'll be keeping your usual collection day, but rubbish will be emptied once a fortnight from the new wheeled bins instead of the weekly blue bag collection.
Recycling will also be collected fortnightly, on weeks when rubbish isn't collected, from the usual green bags.
Making your new collections easy to track
Some streets are starting the new service with a rubbish collection week, with recycling collected the week after, while others will start with a recycling collection.
Don't worry if your friends or family received a different version of the leaflet – the version you receive will be correct for your address.
Installing solar panels together for less
Since launching our Solar Together initiative in June, more than 1,300 people across Wokingham Borough have signed up their interest in installing solar panels – the highest figure in Berkshire. So thank you for your interest.
Solar Together provides homeowners and small-medium business owners the chance to install solar panels and battery storage through a group-buying scheme to secure competitive prices. It is the only group buying scheme operating locally.
Don’t miss out! Register today or before 9 August to receive your personalised offer – it takes less than five minutes!
Choosing an installer can be quite daunting, but under the scheme Solar Together use trusted and vetted installers, which ensures consumer protection and competitive pricing. After you have registered, you will receive an email confirmation and an estimate based on your energy needs and roof type. Once registration closes on 9 August, you will receive a more detailed personalised offer from a vetted installer.

Book in for digital skills sessions
We’re offering digital skills sessions at local libraries, providing hands-on support to residents with their technological queries.
Led by friendly volunteers, these sessions are free to attend and are designed to help everyone improve their digital literacy and confidence in a welcoming and supportive environment.
They last for an hour and a half and cover a wide range of topics, which can be tailored to meet the needs of the individual, with no need to book in advance. Sessions are currently running at:
- Woodley Library - first Monday of the month and the first Thursday of every month, from 10am to 11.30am
- Lower Earley Library - second Tuesday of every month and the fourth Monday of every month, from 10am to 11.30am
- Twyford Library - first Friday of every month, from 10am to 11.30am
- Finchampstead Library - second Friday of every month, from 10am to 11.30am
You can drop in to learn about using a phone, laptop or tablet, how to print and scan, using the library Wi-Fi, how to use the Libby app for audiobooks and creating CVs.
Volunteers can help you use WhatsApp, find bus timetables, navigate PressReader or get the most out of your Kindle or iPad.
 New fostering partnership launched
We’ve joined forces with councils across the South East to create the country’s largest local authority fostering recruitment partnership in a bid to increase the number of foster carers across the region.
There is an urgent need to recruit more people to provide safe, loving and local homes for children, with more than 11,000 children in care and fewer than 3,000 local authority approved foster carers in the South East.
More information on becoming a foster carer can be found on the new regional website and by following Local Authority Fostering South East on Facebook, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
Those interested in fostering can also contact the regional hub directly to speak to a member of the recruitment team by calling 0300 131 2797.
