What's coming up
In preparation of the installation of the new drainage network, next week will see the team focusing on digging down through the first few layers of the road surface within the phase two closure. This will allow us to see utility pipes and cables which may not have been identified on plans provided by the utility companies. These drainage works are critical to the overall success of the project and will help to solve historical flooding issues in the area.
What's been happening
Paving and kerb lines works have been completed within the areas that were closed off throughout phase one and new lamp columns have also been installed within this area.
The raised pedestrian crossing point located outside the Ratepayers Hall has also been completed
Signage in regards to changes to road closures and diversion routes have been erected.
Phase two works have kicked off this week with trial holes outside Cresswells Garage and the Co-op store. This is to help the team determine if the plans provided by utility companies, showing the location of their pipes and cables, are accurate before we begin digging out the second phase of our new drainage network.
New road layout for phase two now in place
As we have moved into phase two of the project, Finchampstead Road is now closed from Wild Acres Rest Home to the crossroads but access to Avery car park and adjacent shops will remain open from the Wild Acres Rest Home.
Nine Mile Ride is now closed from the junction of Wick Hill Lane to the crossroads.
Access will be maintained to residential properties within the closure. Further details on the road closure and diversion routes can be found on our website and signage is in place along the diversion routes.
