 Outdoor family fun for all
Summer is a delightful season to explore the outdoors, enjoy nature and participate in various events.
Take a stroll around the meadow and woodland to discover the abundant wildlife at Rooks Nest Wood on Saturday 8 June, from 12noon to 4pm. It's free and no booking is needed.
Jointly organised by us and the Thames Basin Heaths Partnership, this free event is suitable for all, especially families with school age children.
You can join a 45-minute guided walk (starting at 1.30pm) or pick up a wildlife spotter sheet to help you explore and learn more about the thriving nature reserve. Free copies of the 'Greenspace on your doorstep' guide will be given out by our partners on site.
Wokingham Town Council is encouraging people to take part in the Wokingham Big Bug Hunt for a citizen science project. Whether it is at your local park, at your school or even in your garden, everyone can get involved.
Find out more about the bug hunt and download a count sheet on the town council website. Don't forget to email your results to Wokingham in Bloom or drop them off at the town hall.

New accessible toilet at Dinton Activity Centre
A new fully accessible toilet has been installed on the ground floor of Dinton Activity Centre.
The new toilet is accessible whenever the car park is open, which can be up to 10pm depending on the season. It has been made possible by enhancing an existing disabled toilet.
It's already been registered as a Changing Places Toilet, which, unlike a standard accessible one, has:
- A height adjustable changing bench
- A hoisting system
- A peninsular toilet
- Space for the disabled person and wheelchair
- Extra space for carers
The locations of other Changing Places Toilets can be found online.
Visit the Changing Places website to learn more about why these facilities are important.
