What's coming up
Excavation works continue next week as the team look to complete the stretch between Londis Red Oak Store and the California Ratepayers Hall. This is in preparation for the new paving that will be laid. The team will also be working on digging out the new kerb lines along this part of the road.
Changes to parking access from Tuesday
With excavation works taking place next week between Londis Red Oak Store and the California Ratepayers Hall, access to parking outside Londis Red Oak Store and Bob's Fish and Chip Shop will need to switch over.
Before the start of the project, we reworked our plans for car park access after receiving feedback from local businesses and residents at our drop in sessions.
We have ensured the car park remains accessible throughout the project and from Tuesday (7 May) access to the car park will be via Nine Mile Ride.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout and signage in relation to this car park will be switched to accommodate the new access arrangements.
Local business owners have been made aware and we ask you to continue to support your local businesses throughout this project.
What's been happening
This week saw the local elections take place with signage erected and the team on hand from 6am to 10pm yesterday (Thursday 2 May) to assist those making their way to the polling stations to vote via the diversion routes.
The installation of new block paving has progressed this week and our project team has been receiving very positive feedback as the footways begin to take shape.
The team has completed the paving on both side of the road along the stretch of Nine Mile Ride from Cresswells Garage to Nine Mile Ride Dental Practice.
They have also completed the paving on one side of the road along Finchampstead Road between the crossroads and the California Ratepayers Hall.
Correction: Last week we stated that 90% of paving works for phase one had been completed and although the team are progressing well, this percentage was in reference to the drainage works for phase one. We hope to complete all phase one drainage works next week.
Support your local businesses
If you're going out to pick up a pint of milk or a takeaway, filling your car up with petrol, or looking for somewhere to go on the weekend, remember to think of your local businesses first.
We're working with local business owners to encourage everyone to support shopping and doing business locally.
