Wokingham Borough Connect
New private clinic is just what the doctor ordered!
One of Wokingham's newest businesses is helping to ensure that the town centre's future looks healthy.
The Wellness Clinic Wokingham, based at Elms Walk in Elms Field, offers a range of private health and wellbeing services including GP services, vitamin therapies, ear wax micro-suctioning, blood tests and allergen tests.
It also offers GP-led aesthetic treatments, including botox, dermal fillers and skin treatments with Dr Cat.
Managing director Graham Pope said: “We're so pleased to be working in partnership with our local community in Wokingham. Since we opened in November, residents have shown amazing support and interest in our services.
"We'd urge anyone who is at all worried or concerned about their health to come and see us, because early intervention can really make a difference.”
The retail units at Elms Field are part of our multi-million pound regeneration of the town centre, also including the Peach Place and Carnival Hub developments.
Restaurant has the recipe for alternative meeting space
As an alternative to the office or conference centre, there are many other places where businesses can bring their teams together - including the Salty Olive restaurant in Elms Road, part of the Elms Field development.
Owner Susannah Stewart says: "We've hosted a number of business meetings in the relaxed atmosphere of our private space.
"I used to work for Microsoft and run similar events myself, so I know first-hand how difficult it is to find a good venue which provides meeting and networking space, along with great catering facilities."

Something strange in the neighbourhood!
Our area's film industry is thriving and you may recently have enjoyed watching Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire at cinemas, especially as the production paid a visit to Wokingham Borough.
Along with our partners at the Berkshire Film Office, we helped to make on-location filming happen last year - which included some help from our highways team.
Filming also took place at both Shinfield Studios and Winnersh Film Studios (Stage 50). The latter was also home to the film's prop workshop, where the team's ghost-busting Proton Packs were upgraded.
The Shinfield site is part of Thames Valley Science Park while the Winnersh site is part of Winnersh Triangle Business Park, both thriving hubs for local employment.

Recycle more and waste less with new app
Businesses that would like to recycle more waste, or create less in the first place, can get advice from a new smartphone app.
As part of the re3 waste management partnership between us, Bracknell Forest and Reading Borough Council, we're working with new start-up Scrapp.
The company's free app for Apple and Android is designed to explain the ins and outs of recycling in an accessible, engaging and user-friendly way.
It's linked to a database of more than 36 million products, and you can scan a barcode to find out the most responsible way to dispose of it.
You can also register an interest in Scrapp's software for businesses for a free 60-day early access period.
Could you help someone back into work?
We're inviting the borough's employers to express their interest in hosting work experience placements for local adults and young people.
Work experience is incredibly valuable for residents of all ages and backgrounds, such as returners to work, professionals who are considering a change of career, or those starting out in the working world.
You only need to offer as little as one day or a few days, or a regular weekday slot, although placements of up to a week or two would also be welcomed.
You can find out more on the Berkshire Opportunities website, including employers’ guides on education and work-based activities such as job shadowing.
If you’d like to help a resident to gain real-life experience, or you have any questions, please contact our team.
