Wokingham Borough Connect
Works to start on London Road
Two major utility companies are joining forces to carry out essential works, while reducing the impact on motorists.
SGN and SEW will be working on London Road in Wokingham to upgrade the gas mains and replace water mains, starting 18 March for around eight weeks.
Rolling lights will be in place between Whitlock Avenue and William Heelas Way throughout this time.
The entrance to Plough Lane from London Road will be closed from 22 April to 10 May to relieve some of the pressure on the main road into town, a signed diversion route via Oak Avenue and Binfield Road will be in place.

Final chance to have your say on A329 Reading Road
We are in the final few days of our consultation on the A329 Reading Road cycle and pedestrian improvements, so don't miss your chance to have your say before the consultation closes on Monday (18 March).
We're planning to improve the route along the A329 Reading Road between Wokingham town centre and neighbourhoods to the west near Winnersh.
This is designed to tackle the things you've told us you're worried about when you're walking and cycling, particularly your and your children's safety
This is part of our efforts to tackle the climate emergency, reduce air pollution and congestion and improve people's health by making it easier to walk or cycle.
Say no to road worker abuse
Around 300 incidents verbal and physical abuse are reported weekly by road workers around the country and it’s time we stood against it.
Behind every orange cone and traffic sign are dedicated individuals working hard to improve our roads.
To help keep them and other road users safe:
-
Slow down and be patient: this can prevent accidents and ensure the safety of road workers
-
Obey traffic signs: ignoring roadwork instructions endangers workers and fellow motorists and road users
-
Give space and respect: avoid honking, shouting, or making rude gestures towards road workers and treat them with the same respect and courtesy you would expect in your workplace.
-
Report abuse: if you witness abuse or harassment towards road workers, report it to the police either online or by calling 101
By working together, we can put an end to the abuse.
