New state-of-the-art kitchen showroom opens
A grand opening has taken place to celebrate the opening of German retailer Kütchenhaus, a state-of-the-art kitchen showroom, in Elms Walk in Wokingham town centre.
Elms Walk is part of the borough council’s multi-million-pound town regeneration. Kütchenhaus signed a new lease with the council earlier this year and offers the latest in German-engineered kitchen design and living collections.
Deputy Borough Mayor Cllr Adrian Mather attended the grand opening on Thursday (16 November) and cut a ribbon to officially open the new showroom. The 994 square foot showroom features six different spaces, showcasing the latest in kitchen and living design with appliances from brands including AEG, NEFF, Caple and ASKO.
Kütchenhaus Wokingham is co-owned by father and son Marc and Tony Maritz alongside their business partners, AC Milan and England footballer Ruben Loftus-Cheek and his brother Isaac Loftus-Cheek.
UPDATE: Fair Funding Deal for Wokingham borough
Thanks to the hundreds of residents who have backed the Fair Funding Deal campaign so far.
We're calling on the Government to give our borough and you, our residents, a fairer deal.
The Government chooses to give the borough less – £400 less per household or about £30million less than an average council providing all services. It means you have to pay more.
Ahead of Chancellor Jeremy Hunt’s Autumn statement tomorrow (22 November), you can help make the borough’s voice heard.

Award for shortbreaks respite centre
Bridges Resource Centre has won the ‘Best Post-16’ provider in Building for the Future’s annual awards, presented by Ed Davey, Leader of the Liberal Democrats.
Woodley-based Bridges, who were awarded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in its inspection this summer, provides short break care for children who have complex needs, or a learning and/or physical disability. They were nominated for the award by a mum who said:
“For the past 10 years my son has attended Bridges Resource Centre weekly for overnight respite and day activities. It is not an exaggeration to say that I do not know how I would have coped without Bridges.
“Not only have they given me much needed respite, but they have been fully involved in my son’s development. I have had regular, and detailed reports and many helpful meetings.
“Without exception, I have found the staff to be caring and extremely competent. My son has had some very challenging behaviours, but Bridges has always been there suggesting and trying out new strategies.
“They have not made me feel patronised or criticised but instead made me feel valued and that I was being a good parent.”
