Wokingham Borough Connect
Mental health charity running free sports sessions
Free and fun sessions are being organised by Sport in Mind, a mental health charity, to help improve and support the wellbeing of young people.
These are a great way to build confidence and self-esteem, as well as being a great opportunity to meet new friends.
Every Thursday during term time, children aged 10 to 14 years old are welcome to take part in fun multi sports sessions from 4pm to 5pm at the Wokingham Leisure Centre.
Sport in Mind now run an older session for those aged 14 to 16 years old at St Crispin's Leisure Centre on Mondays from 5pm to 6pm.
You can sign up here and if you want to know more about these sessions, you can email Sport in Mind.
Eat well, Get active: Tell us what is stopping you
We need your feedback to help us understand how where you live supports you in being active and eating well and how different factors affect the decisions you make.
We have launched a short survey via our Engage Wokingham Borough platform, asking about your eating and activity habits.
Eating a balanced diet and keeping fit can help reduce your risk of heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes and some cancers, as well as boosting your general health including your immune system, sleep quality, bone strength and balance. It is also known to help tackle depression and improve your mental health and wellbeing.
The survey runs until Sunday 26 November and all results will be completely confidential and used to help shape services on offer in the borough.
Light up your life by running laps around country park
After a successful event last year, the 2.2 Night Run is returning to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst.
Test yourself to see how many 2.2-mile laps you can do in one hour and 22 minutes at this event, which is being held on Thursday 2 November and starts at 7.02pm. If you would prefer a slower pace, there is the option to run 5.02 miles.
You need to wear your own head or chest torch, but glow sticks will be given out to help illuminate yourself. Glow in the dark medals will be handed out to those who complete at least one lap and there will be spot prizes for the most illuminated runners.
Both events start and finish at the Dinton Activity Centre, with ample facilities to keep warm and even change or shower afterwards.

Get winter strong and check your eligibility for vaccines
Flu and Covid-19 spread more easily in winter and can cause serious harm to those at greater risk.
If you are eligible, get vaccinated against both diseases for milder symptoms, a quicker recovery and a lower chance of needing hospital care. It also helps to protect people at risk around you. If you are pregnant, the vaccine offers protection to you and your baby.
Get ready for winter and come forward for your vaccines as soon as you can. Check if you are eligible, and book online, via the NHS app, or by calling 119.
Children can also get protected with the nasal spray flu vaccine – it is quick, easy and helps protect against serious illness. If your child is aged two or three, contact your GP to book their flu vaccine. Other school-aged children will be offered the vaccine at school.
