Take part in cycle and pedestrian improvement survey
There's just a few days left to tell us your views on our plans to improve the route along the A329 Reading Road between Wokingham town centre and neighbourhoods to the west near Winnersh.
The scheme has been designed to help people who don't usually cycle and will help everyone feel safer by keeping pedestrians, cyclists and motor traffic separate from each other.
We want to improve cycling, walking and wheeling provision as part of our efforts to tackle the climate emergency, reduce air pollution and congestion and improve our residents' health.
This is one of the key routes that were identified in our borough-wide Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), which we consulted on before adopting, and our proposal reflects your concerns.
The design work is funded entirely by a £606,215 grant from the Government's Active Travel Fund and construction would also be externally funded.
Work could start next year, depending on your views and us being granted all the money we need. Complete the survey by Sunday 22 October.
Making our borough a better place to live and work
Local organisations from a variety of sectors, including us, are coming together to create a long-term vision for Wokingham Borough - and we want you to get involved.
Take a very short survey – only four questions – to share your views on the borough and its future.
Your feedback will help share the vision, which will guide how we work together to make Wokingham Borough a better place to live and work.
Nominate someone for a Mayor's Honour Award
Is there an unsung hero in your community? Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Beth Rowland launched the Mayor’s Honour Awards earlier this year to recognise individuals who go the extra mile.
The awards are open to adults, children, young people and community groups who work, live, study or provide services in the borough.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Adrian Mather, will select winners from those nominated by the public, with the next deadline for nominations being Wednesday 1 November.
Examples of nominated people include fosterers, volunteers, carers, teachers and employees. For children and young people, the Mayor would like to hear about individuals who have overcome a difficult situation or have outstanding achievements.
Send in your nominations by email and set out why the nominee should be considered for the award. The nominee’s full name and contact details, such as an email address or telephone number, should also be included in the entry.
Share your views on surgeries at Healthwatch event
Do you attend Wokingham Medical Practice, Burma Hill or Woosehill surgeries?
Come and join the Healthwatch Wokingham team to share your experiences and views on the service you receive. Tell them what is working well and what could be improved.
The event is taking place at the Wokingham Charity and Community Hub at Waterford House on Tuesday 24 October from 10am to 11.30am.
This forms part of a project that was recently launched across Berkshire West to help improve GP services for everyone.
To find out more, send an email to Healthwatch Wokingham or call (0118) 4181418.
