Visit the new playground in North Wokingham
A new community playground has been opened in North Wokingham, just in time for the half term.
The facility is at Payley Park, off Queens Road and Howlett Grove in the Matthewsgreen area. It was funded and built by the developer.
The playground boasts equipment aimed at all ages including traditional and "nest" swings, rocking seats on springs, rotating seats and a ship with a small slide. Older children can enjoy a rope climbing frame, a larger slide, balance course and a zip wire as well as a multi-use games area suitable for football, basketball and more.
Take a stroll to Ashridge Meadows
After some fun at the new playground, why not bring your children to the nearby Ashridge Meadows to enjoy nature?
As one of the 27 nature parks in our borough, the meadows provide habitats for a wide array of insects, mammals and birds. There is a 2.4km surfaced path meandering through the meadows, past willow tunnel structures and newly planted woodlands.
It's worth a leisurely stroll whenever you want to wind down and get some fresh air!
Seeing Dinton Pastures in a new light
Next month, we will be welcoming the return of two exciting events to Dinton Pastures, both of which will enable you to see the country park in a different light.
The event will be held next Thursday (2 November), and there's still time to sign up.
You can choose to run as many 2.2-mile laps as you want in 1 hour 22 minutes or 5 miles around the country park in one go. You need to wear your own head or chest torch, but glow sticks will be given out to help you illuminate yourself.
It will surely be a sight to be seen!
Tickets are selling fast for this fundraising event on 18 November (Saturday).
You can go for a two-mile starlight walk around Black Swan Lake and take in the illuminated woodland with various light features as well as jugglers, singers and illuminated stand-up paddleboarders. You are also encouraged to make yourself glow with as many light-up accessories as you can.
There is tiered pricing to make the event accessible to as many people as possible. For more information or book a ticket, visit the First Days website.
