Asphalt preservation works on Reading Road A329
Latest on our road maintenance programme
Our team have been working hard to get back on track after all the rain we've had in recent weeks, which caused a number of asphalt preservation works to be postponed.
Asphalt preservation is a cost-effective preventative treatment, which adds protection to the road surface.
The team have been carrying out resurfacing works at a number of locations including A329 London Road and Easthampstead Road in Wokingham.
Resurfacing works continue on Winchcombe Road in Twyford and are scheduled to be completed by the weekend.
Any changes to the schedule will be posted on our Traffic and Traffic Facebook page, as well as on the advanced warning boards on site.
Details of the full resurfacing schedule can be found on our website. As always, works are weather dependent and subject to change but the signage on site of the works will display up to date information if changes do occur.
Bike theft - keep your prized possession safe
We’ve all heard or seen the recent news about bike crime in our community and you may have been a victim of bike theft.
Unfortunately, if a bike thief wants your bike they will go for it - but the good news is that you can take steps to make your bike less attractive:
- Good quality locks – ensure you use a D-Lock to attach your bike to a secure structure and lock the wheel and the frame to this. You can check the quality of your lock on the Sold Secure website
- Consider using the Bike Lockers if you are in Wokingham town centre. They are £1 a day and are located on Denmark Street car park and at the Carnival Hub.
- Security marking – Thames Valley Police frequently hold free bike marking events. If you can’t wait for the next one you can buy your own bike marking kit online.
Always check that your insurance covers your bike outside your home, as many policies only cover theft from home.
On the plus side, our anti-social behaviour team recently helped to convict a serial bike thief and the police have since taken action against other individuals.
Report a pothole or an issue with a road
Did you know it's not just potholes that you can report to us via our website? You can use our online system to report a variety of issues about our road network.
This includes issues with signage that may be dirty, damaged or obscured by overgrown vegetation. We can also help if you need to report a damaged street light, traffic light or bollard, as well as any obstruction in the road like a fallen tree or a dead animal.
Our map based highways reporting system is a simple way to report issues with the road network quickly via our website and we can even update you on the progress of your query if you choose to leave your email address.
