NEW: Cost of living help guides
The school holidays have begun and we know it can be an expensive period for everyone.
And even if you don’t have school age children, we know winter is not far away.
The soaring cost of food and other essentials impacts everyone, as well as rising rents and mortgages.
We’ve got new guides to help now and ahead of the winter. They set out support for different groups with the cost of living:
You can start at our cost of living help page if you’re not sure which page to visit from the list above.
If you need help now, you can apply for a £100 voucher to help with food, bills, energy and other essentials.
App for young people's mental health
A new app to help 11 to 18 year olds in the borough with their mental health launched earlier this month, offering space to share experiences and get help from their peers.
Tellmi is a safe and anonymous app where young people can talk about absolutely anything.
From anxiety to autism, dating to depression, or self-harm to self-esteem, sharing your experiences with this awesome community, which helps young people to feel better.
Moderators check everything to keep young people safe and in-house counsellors are always on hand for extra support.
How does it work?
- Download the free app from the App Store or Google Play
- Choose your anonymous username
- Enter your age and postcode (so you’ll see posts from those in the same age range and get links to local services)
- Start using – you read what others have put, put up your own post and offer support to others
You can find out more on the Tellmi website.

New treatment to protect road surfaces
This year we're introducing a new treatment to our road maintenance programme.
Asphalt preservation is a cost-effective preventative treatment, which adds protection to the road surface.
A sealant is applied which seals cracks to help prevent pothole formation. This protection can extend the life of a road surface by up to five years.
The locations for the first round of these works can be found our website and we will update the website with dates and timings once the schedule is confirmed.
Further details of our road maintenance programme can be found on our website. As always, works are weather dependent and subject to change but the signage on site of the works will display up to date information if changes do occur.
