Wokingham Borough Connect
Follow us to keep up to speed
Did you know we have a Traffic and Travel Facebook and Twitter page?
This is where we post about the most disruptive works that are being carried out the across the borough by gas, electric, water and telecoms companies, as well as maintenance works carried out by us.
The social pages mirror what we list in this newsletter but, due to the nature of social media, we are also able to provide you with updates if things change, due to weather for example. We're also able to update you on any unplanned changes to the road network, like a closure due to an emergency like a burst pipe.
So why not follow us to stay up to speed?
 Walk to school week
Well done to all those who have been taking part in Walk to School Week this week.
This year's challenge encourages children to travel actively to school every day this week and look out for wildlife along the way.
The five-day walking challenge is an annual celebration of the walk to school and the perfect activity to celebrate National Walking Month this May.
Through this challenge, children will be well on their way to reaching their recommended 60 minutes minimum of physical activity per day before even reaching the school gates!
Latest on our annual road maintenance programme
Our annual maintenance programme continues with all the main surface dressing works now complete. This treatment seals the road surface from water while also enhancing its skid resistance.
Next week the team will be carrying out final works as part of the surface dressing phase of the programme which include painting road marking. Ironworks will also be carried out to ensure all drains and manhole covers are level with the resurfaced road.
Details of where our team are working this month can be found on our website.
As always, works are weather dependent and subject to change but the signage on site of the works will display up to date information if changes do occur.
