Take part in a weekly well-being walk
Mental health charity, Sport in Mind, is running a free well-being walking group for people aged 17 years old and over who are experiencing low mood, social isolation, loneliness or a diagnosed mental health condition. The group aims to create a fun and relaxed space for people to get outdoors and meet new friends.
The walking group meets outside Finchampstead Baptist Church in Finchampstead every Tuesday at 2pm. The walking route is around California Country Park in Finchampstead and lasts 60 minutes depending on the energy of the group. Simply bring a bottle of water and a raincoat in case of bad weather. Walkers are welcome to enjoy a free hot drink in the church café after the walk, sponsored by Wates Residential.
All new participants to the walking group will need to complete a short form confirming their attendance. If you have already completed the form, simply pop along to a session.
Access our dementia care advisory service
Today is the start of Dementia Action Week (15 to 21 May) and as part of this we would like to promote our Dementia Care Advisory Service.
Advisors provide general support and signposting to residents living with dementia, as well as their carer, family or friends.
This could be advice about benefits, services provided by health and social care, long-term planning, living well with dementia, carer support and much more.
We work closely with community, faith and voluntary services, which deliver dementia services and activities. We offer home visits and attend local groups, such as dementia cafés and carer groups.
If you have been diagnosed with dementia and live in the borough, you can access the service.
The team will be at an event in Peach Place in Wokingham tomorrow (16 May) as part of Dementia Action Week. Stalls run by local groups will be set up from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
If you need help from the team, call (0118) 904 7200 or send us an email.
