This bank holiday weekend is set to be a joyous time of celebrations, street parties and socialising for residents. We've published the approved road closures that will be in place to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation (6, 7 and 8 May 2023).
We have made it easy for residents living in cul-de-sacs and residential roads to hold street parties by waiving road closure charges during this weekend.
More than 60 road closure applications have been approved in the borough and can be viewed by visiting our Engage Wokingham website and viewing the interactive map or downloading the ‘Coronation weekend road closures’ PDF.
Don’t forget to share your street party, afternoon tea or public event on Engage Wokingham for other residents to see and attend.
![Resurfacing](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/UKWOKBC/2021/01/4022204/resurfacing_original.jpg) Annual road maintenance programme
Each year roads are repaired across the borough through our annual maintenance programme. Roads are assessed and monitored throughout the year using a range of techniques, which informs the plan for the coming year.
Our highway team began our microasphalt resurfacing works on schedule last month and despite some very wet weather this work looks set to be completed on schedule next week.
Micro asphalt surface treatment is a preventative maintenance treatment, used to seal the existing road surface, improve the texture and helps water evaporate. This type of surface treatment can prolong the life of a road by up to ten years. It is mostly used in residential areas with slower moving traffic.
Next week the team will be in Finchampstead, Earley, Woodley and Wokingham before they start the surface dressing phase of our programme.
As always, works are weather dependent and subject to change but the signage on site of the works will display up to date information if changes do occur.
