Road closures due to May Fayre this Bank Holiday
Wokingham Lions Club will be hosting their annual May Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday, 1 May. The event will take place on Elms Field, Denmark Street and Market Place.
It promises to be a very lively day of family entertainment with over 100 stalls covering charities, local crafts, commercial and food vendors.
There will be a funfair, petting zoo, picnic areas, circus performers and children’s rides, as well as a full calendar of stage performances throughout the day.
To accommodate the event, a road closure will be in place between Peach Street and Denmark Street car park on the day, between 6am and 7pm. The diversion route will be Broad Street, Shute End, Station Road and Wellington Road which is highlighted in blue on the map. The red lines show where the closure will be in place.
Road closures in place for Coronation weekend
It’s set to be a joyous bank holiday weekend of celebrations, street parties and socialising for residents as we have published the approved road closures in place to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation (6, 7 and 8 May 2023).
We have made it easy for residents living in cul-de-sacs and residential roads to hold street parties in the borough by waiving road closure charges during the Coronation bank holiday weekend. The application deadline for residents to apply for a free road closure on the council’s website ended on 16 April.
More than 60 road closure applications have been approved in the borough and can be viewed by visiting our Engage Wokingham website and viewing the interactive map or downloading the ‘Coronation weekend road closures’ PDF.
Don’t forget to share your street party, afternoon tea or public event on Engage Wokingham for other residents to see and attend.
