Funfair and more than 100 stalls at May Fayre
The Wokingham May Fayre returns on Monday 1 May and promises a fun day for all ages.
Organised by Wokingham Lions Club, the day will run from 10am to 5pm across Elms Field, Denmark Street and Market Place.
As with previous years, it will be a great family day out, with more than 100 stalls covering charities, local crafts, commercial and food vendors.
There will be a funfair, petting zoo, picnic areas, circus performers and children’s rides, as well as stage performances throughout the day. The entertainment also includes an internationally-renowned giant balloon show.
Although this is a free event, donations are invited to support Camp Mohawk and Thames Hospice.
Royal-themed activities taking place at our libraries
To help celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, our libraries are hosting a number of themed-events and activities.
Berkshire Record Office talk
Join us at Wokingham Library for a reflection on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
A talk is being given by The Berkshire Record Office on Friday 28 April from 10.30am to 11.30am. It will look back on the local events held for The Queen's coronation, jubilees and visits to Berkshire.
The talk will also share a few examples of how King Charles followed in his mother's footsteps when he was The Prince of Wales.

Creative writing workshop
Join local author Eloise de Sousa as she delivers a creative writing workshop with a Royal twist for children. The session is being held at Wokingham Library on Friday 28 April from 3.30pm to 5pm and booking is required. It is suitable for children aged seven to 11 and free to attend.
Royal Storytime
Join us for a selection of fun stories. This is a free event, but booking is advised due to limited space. Sessions are running on Tuesday 2 May at Lower Earley Library from 10am to 10.30am and at Wokingham Library from 4pm to 4.30pm.
Get Arty
Join us for an afternoon of arts and crafts. Sessions are open to children aged four to ten and cost £2 per child. Booking is essential.

LEGO Club
Design a castle fit for a king at our LEGO Club on Thursday 4 May at Finchampstead Library. The session runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and is free to attend, with booking required.

Stride out for Summer Series at Dinton Pastures
Now in its 11th year, the Dinton Summer Series is returning to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst.
Organised by Barnes Fitness, competitors have the option to run in a 5km or 10km event at 7pm on Thursday 11 May.
Your time will be chipped and your result will be available as soon as you cross the finish line, with trophies for the top three in different categories.
The 5km event is one lap of the flat course and those who feel like testing themselves can go around a second time for the 10km option.
If you are unable to run on 11 May, the Summer Series presents you with the chance to run at Dinton on Thursday 8 June (7.30pm), Thursday 13 July (7.30pm) and Thursday 10 August (7pm).
It costs £21 to take part in the 5km race and £23 for the 10km race. If you want to sign up for all four events, it is £76 for the 5km series and £84 for the 10km series.
Coronation tea party for people living with dementia
Celebrate the Coronation of King Charles in style by attending a tea party at the Carnival Hub in Wokingham on Friday 19 May.
Join us from 1pm to 3pm for delicious cakes, refreshments and entertainment. We warmly welcome residents who may be living with dementia, together with their carers and families.
This is being hosted by Age UK Berkshire and The Link Visiting Scheme, with funding provided by Wokingham Town Council.

Badminton and table tennis to improve mental health
Wokingham Leisure Centre @ Carnival Hub is hosting free weekly sessions run by Sport in Mind, a mental health charity.
You can play badminton and table tennis every Friday from 2pm to 3pm and no experience is needed.
These are open to anyone over the age of 17 who is experiencing low mood, social isolation, loneliness or with a diagnosed mental health condition.
The sessions are lots of fun and all about getting as active as you like in a safe and supportive environment. They are drop-in sessions, so there is no need to book and all equipment is provided.
New participants are asked to complete a short form, which can be done online before attending.
Free training for hair and beauty professionals
Are you a professional working in the hair and beauty sector?
Hairdressers, barbers and beauty salons are safe spaces for many victims of domestic abuse, where they are at ease with a stylist they trust and can confide in.
You are in a unique position to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse in your clients. With proper training, you can become an invaluable and influential community partner, helping to reduce the impact of domestic abuse.
We’re running a series of free virtual domestic abuse training for professionals working in the hair and beauty sector. The training covers what domestic abuse is, how to spot the signs and how to help your client.
You can book your free place at our next online session on Thursday 18 May, from 6pm to 7pm. If you can’t make this, book your free place for the next session, which will be on Tuesday 4 July.
Get help from experts during Dementia Action Week
Dementia Friendly Wokingham and partner charities are hosting an information event on Tuesday 16 May.
Stalls will be in Peach Place in Wokingham from 10.30am to 2.30pm to mark Dementia Action Week (15 to 21 May).
There will be dementia-friendly activities and a chance to speak with representatives from local charities.
Dementia Friendly Wokingham supports people living with dementia to remain valued members of the community for as long as possible. The group runs activities across the borough and welcomes anyone with any form of dementia, as well as their carer.
