Early bird tickets on sale for Wokingham Festival
Live music is back this summer with the return of Wokingham Festival over the August bank holiday weekend.
Starting on Saturday 26 August, there will be more than 40 artists appearing at Cantley Park, including a mix of original artists, tribute acts and covers bands. With a wide range of musical genres, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Artists confirmed for this year include prog rock legends Caravan, Vintage Sound Collective and Moonage, a tribute band to David Bowie.
Early bird tickets are now on sale and you can save 30 per cent by booking early. A weekend ticket for an adult is £35. Children aged eight to 17 who attend with a paying adult can get a weekend ticket for just £7, while children seven and under get free entry with a paying adult.
Discover animals at country park Easter trail
Jackson's Café is inviting children of all ages to come and find the animals 'hiding' in California Country Park.
From Monday 3 to Sunday 9 April, you can get a map for your children at the café for £2, and then go out with them to find all the animals dotted along the Easter Trail, which is the main path around the lake in the country park.
A prize will be given out to those who return to the café having completed the mission.
Also, from Monday 3 April, the café will be serving food from 9am to 4pm, with the kitchen closing at 5pm. See Jackson's Café Facebook page for updates or more information.
London landmarks and more with Steve Antony
Popular children's author and illustrator Steve Antony is visiting three of our libraries on Thursday 6 April.
An award winner and regular of the Wokingham Children's Book Festival, his sessions are always popular and funny.
He will be talking about The Queen's Hat Series, a series of four picture books, which feature famous landmarks in London. Part one was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award and adapted into a musical by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Sessions are running at:
- Wokingham Library, from 10am to 11am
- Woodley Library, from 1pm to 2pm
- Lower Earley Library, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm

Add your events for Coronation of King Charles
To celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation, we’re delighted to invite all residents, including town and parish councils, businesses, voluntary, community sector groups, organisations, multi-faith and local groups to add their coronation events to our interactive map on Engage for other residents to see or take part in.

To add your street party or public event to our interactive map, you will need to sign up for a free account on our Engage Wokingham website and be logged in. Once signed up, you can also take part in our consultations.
Remember, you can apply for a free road closure to celebrate the Coronation by visiting our website. All applications must be made by Sunday 16 April. We will add the road closures to our Engage website once approved.
The bird is the word! Win money by visiting shops
Find the chicks hiding in shop windows around Woodley and you could win a cash prize.
The Woodley Easter Chick Hunt started on Saturday 25 March and runs until Saturday 8 April.
All you need to do is write the name of the shops on an entry form and hand it into participating shops, or the Oakwood Centre, when you have finished.
Correct entries will be entered into a prize draw, with first prize being £35. The runner-up will receive £25 and third place gets £20.
Entry forms can be picked up from participating shops, the Oakwood Centre or from the Woodley Town Council website.
Venture onto the water with boat hire at Dinton
You can soon hire a boat and venture out on the lake again at Dinton Pastures Country Park.
From Saturday 1 April, we will resume our boat hire service on weekends and bank holidays, with a range of boats for you to choose from including pedalos, paddleboards, giant paddleboards, canoes and double kayaks.
Children aged two or above can go on a boat with an adult. You can also bring your dog, but remember to put it on a lead to prevent any unwanted wobbling of the boat.
A standard boat hire slot is 30 minutes and costs start from £8. Back-to-back slots can be booked for pedalos and paddleboards on weekends only.

Mental health & wellbeing community alliance forum
Mind in Berkshire, run by Oxfordshire Mind wellbeing workers, is running a series of free sessions throughout the year aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for Wokingham Borough residents.
The next session, mental health and wellbeing community alliance, takes place in person on Thursday 13 April, from 2pm to 3.30pm, at the Wokingham Charity and Community Hub in Denmark Street.
If you are a voluntary or community sector (VCS) organisation, or group with a particular focus on improving the mental health and wellbeing of people living in the borough, this event is for you.
The aim of the alliance is to improve the experience of people accessing mental health and wellbeing support by responding collaboratively to identified needs in the community.
