It's not golf, it's Disc Golf
Have you ever played disc golf?
Disc golf is a similar game to 'regular' golf except that it's played with a disc (a type of frisbee). Players throw the disc as close as possible to a specially designed target called a 'basket', then throw again from where the disc landed, trying to get into the basket in the lowest number of throws.
You can try the sport at Dinton Pastures Country Park, as it has one of the few 18-hole permanent disc golf courses in England. The course is located on public grassland next to the main lake. You can reach it from either the Coffee House or Dinton Activity Centre.
It is free to play if you have your own discs!
If you don't, you can hire a set of two discs (mid-range and putter) for £6 from the activity centre every Sunday (from 11am to 1.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm). Please note advance booking is required.
Mother's Day lunch at Jackson's Café
Jackson's Café at California Country Park is now taking bookings for lunch on Mother's Day Sunday (19 March, from 12pm to 4pm).
The menu for this special day features delicious roast meat (beef, lamb and pork) and vegetables by its skilled chef, as well as vegan options to suit customers' preferences.
The family-run café specialises in fresh, locally-sourced produce and changes its menus seasonally to ensure there's always something different to try.
To reserve a table for the celebration, call the café on 0118 973 0776 or drop the team an email on info@jacksonscalifornialake.com.
 Weekly runs at Dinton Pastures
A free running event, Dinton Pastures parkrun starts at 9am every Saturday and features a 5-km route around the beautiful White Swan Lake in the country park.
It is not a race against other runners! You can take part for your own enjoyment and at your own pace! You are also welcome to join with your dog, but please make sure it is on a short, handheld, non-extendable lead and within reach at all times.
There is a post parkrun coffee every week in The Coffee House, when you can swap stories about your run with other participants.
Registration is free and only needs to be completed once online. You will then receive an email with a scannable barcode for recording your results each time.
Organised by parkrun UK, a not-for-profit organisation, the event encourages everyone, regardless of their ability, to run, jog or walk together regularly and enjoy the beautiful Dinton Pastures.

 Nature Buggies and Adventure Golf
Apart from a wide range of land and water sports for different ages, Dinton Pastures Country Park is also home to two family-friendly activities: Nature Buggies and Adventure Golf.
Nature Buggies
A trip on a buggy around the lake at Dinton Pastures is both enjoyable and relaxing.
There are three kinds of buggies for hire: one seater for aged four to 12; two-seaters for an adult and a child; and four-seaters for families.
You can find Nature Buggies on the field opposite the play park at Dinton. They are available from 10am to 4pm on weekends and holidays. You can simply turn up and hire, as no booking is needed.
Please note you must be at least 18 years old to hire a buggy and photo ID is needed.
Adventure Golf
Adventure Golf offers a 18-hole golf course with a variety of fun holes and different obstacles to test your putting skills, including a classic windmill, loop de loop, a train and bridges to go over.
The activity is suitable for all ages and abilities. You can book a session online before your visit. Alternatively, walk-ins are available on the day, subject to availability.
Adverture Golf gives out group discounts, so it's also a great choice for children's birthday parties, corporate or team building events and family gatherings.
Located 150 yards from the main car park at Dinton Pastures, Adventure Golf is open from 10am until dark during weekends, school and bank holidays.
