Share your views now on sports facilities plans
We'd like to remind you that the deadline for comments on a reserved matters application for new sports facilities in your area is this Friday, 17 February. We'll be taking your feedback on board before deciding the next steps.
The scheme on land off Princess Marina Drive includes refurbished playing fields, a new and improved pavilion to replace the existing one and two new play areas, a multi-use games area and allotments.
Our newsletter last week incorrectly described this as an outline application. In fact, the principle of development is already agreed, with this application deciding access, appearance, landscaping and other more detailed aspects.
We apologise for the error and any confusion this may have caused.
Do you enjoy walking in your area?
If you’re planning a hike in the borough, we’ve produced a new online interactive tool in partnership with Loddon Valley Ramblers to make it easier.
We’ve updated our definitive rights of way map with help from the charity, whose volunteers walked all 238 km (140 miles) of our footpaths, bridleways and byways and recorded all 84 stiles, 231 gates, 108 bridges, 21 benches and 876 signs.
You can search for your nearest routes, then click on points of interest to find out more. If you encounter something not listed on your travels, report it and we’ll aim to update the map or fix faults as soon as we can.
We hope this map will be especially helpful for people with mobility issues and we’re working to replace as many stiles with gates as possible. Our thanks go to the Ramblers - we’d really have struggled to produce this without them.
While you’re out, why not take part in the My Journey Wokingham challenge on the Innovation Valley Rewards app? You can also find out what we’re doing to promote walking and cycling in general on our My Journey Wokingham page.
Help us find Gypsy and Traveller housing land
We'd like to hear from anyone who can suggest potential sites in the borough for Gypsy and Traveller pitches by 5pm on Friday, 17 February.
We’re asking individuals, landowners, parish and town councils or housing developers to suggest land which might be available, either now or in the future, which they believe might be suitable.
Anyone who can help should visit our Engage Wokingham Borough page to download a form and return it before the deadline. This will help us meet our duty to plan ahead for all sections of our community.
