Toy Run this Sunday
The annual Reading Toy Run is back this weekend! This annual event will see hundreds of motorcyclists in fancy dress and decorated bikes ride from Shinfield Park to deliver Christmas presents for the children at Barnardo’s High Close School in Wokingham.
This year's event takes place this Sunday (4 December) from 2pm, with riders meeting at Wood PLC in Shinfield Park and travelling down Lower Earley Way, Reading Road, Rectory Road and Wiltshire Road to drop Christmas presents to Barnardo’s High Close School.
Roads will be closed to allow the toy run to take place, as well as ensure the safety of the hundreds of spectators who line the streets to watch the event take place.
The Ridges in Finchampstead reopens
The Ridges in Finchampstead reopened this week after major restoration works were completed,
In Spring last year sections of The Ridges started to collapse with a long-term solution needed to prevent it from happening again.
This complex project involved a range of technical disciplines to identify the right solution, considering long term stability, disruption during construction, land availability, value for money and environmental impacts (including tree retention and carbon impacts).
Specialist engineers were required to look at the issue and to come up with some different solutions with soil nails being chosen as the preferred option.
We thank you all for your patience while we have carried out these extensive and essential works.

New bike lockers installed with our support
Our My Journey team were thrilled to work with Wokingham Town Council to install four new bike lockers at the entrance to Denmark Street Car Park in Wokingham.
These are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be booked for the whole day for just £1.
Cyclists must register in advance through the Spokesafe app, which allows them to check availability in advance and generates an access code for maximum security.
The lockers were funded by a Government sustainable travel grant to our My Journey Wokingham team, which we passed on to the town council.
Four more will follow in the town centre once a location is decided.
