Covid-19 vaccination clinics move to Shute End
The dedicated Covid-19 vaccine clinic in Wokingham Borough will be moving to Shute End in Wokingham from Thursday 6 October.
The clinic will be relocated to Shuters Café in the basement of our Shute End offices, where it will offer the adult autumn booster vaccine on Thursdays and Fridays and the children’s vaccine to people aged five to 11 on Sundays.
The entrance is located behind the ticketed 30-minute free visitors’ parking spaces on Biscoe Way, just past the recycling area. There will be signage displayed to direct visitors.
These clinics were previously held on the ground floor of the former Wokingham Library in Denmark Street.
This winter, it is expected that many respiratory infections, including Covid-19, may be circulating at high levels and this may put increasing pressure on hospitals and other healthcare services.
Getting up to date with Covid-19 vaccinations is the best way to protect you and your loved ones as we live with the virus.
Please check your eligibility and book using the NHS National Booking System or call 119. The clinics will accept walk-ins where there is capacity. Remember to bring your NHS number if you have one and to wear a face covering.
If you try to book and are unable to find a location in Wokingham Borough, it is likely all bookable slots have been taken, or the local clinic is not providing the vaccine you need.
When to visit
The clinic in the borough currently offers vaccines to five to 11-year-olds.
It is also currently offering the autumn booster jab to people aged 65 and over, as well as health and social care workers, who have completed their primary course of at least the first two doses. Other groups eligible for the autumn booster should come forward later as the programme continues to roll out.
If you are not currently eligible, the council offices won't show up as a venue on the booking system. In that case, please get the vaccine at other locations near you.
Special clinics for health and social care staff
On Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 5pm, the clinic will provide the autumn booster vaccine exclusively to frontline health and social care staff on a walk-in basis. The definition of these roles is set out on the Government website.
Those attending the clinic are reminded to bring their NHS number and a face covering with them.
Health and social care staff should also bring proof of status, such as workplace photo ID, a letter from your employer from the past three months, or a payslip from the past three months which shows your employer.
