Wokingham Borough Connect
Ends tonight - 3G sports pitch consultation
We are proposing a 3G sports pitch at Maiden Erlegh School in Earley to cater for the shortfall in pitches throughout the borough.
Maiden Erlegh School in Earley has been identified as the most suitable location for the new pitch based on the existing facilities including changing rooms, toilets, sufficient parking and access to the site. The school could also make use of the 3G sports pitch during the school day. The site is approved by the Football Foundation and we would seek funding from them for it.
The consultation survey closes tonight at 11.59pm. Visit our Engage Wokingham Borough website to view frequently asked questions including drawings and visuals plus supporting documentation.

Stop smoking this October
Whether you want to start breathing easier, feel the energy boost or even have a little more money to spend, there has never been a better time to stop smoking. Remember, it's never too late to join the thousands of people quitting smoking this October for the national campaign, Stoptober.
You can download the free NHS app available through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to help you quit smoking and start breathing easier. The app allows you to:
- Track your progress
- See how much you are saving
- Get daily support
If you can make it to 28 days smoke-free, you're five times more likely to quit for good.
For more information, including tips to help you quit smoking and how to join an online community of quitters, visit the NHS website.
Free virtual event for mental health first aiders
Mind in Berkshire, run by Oxfordshire Mind wellbeing workers, is running a series of free, virtual mental health sessions throughout the year aimed at improving mental health and wellbeing for Wokingham Borough residents.
If you have completed mental health first aid training and want to make a difference to residents, sign up to the next session which takes place on Thursday 20 October, 10am to 11.30am.
The online forum provides you with a space to network with other mental health first aiders to share experiences, challenges and discuss how your invaluable skills, individually and collectively, can be used as a force for good in the future.
There will be opportunities for mental health first aiders to check in with each other around their own wellbeing, discuss and reflect on recent experiences of using mental health first aid skills and to also participate in a ‘skills refresher’ session.
Free tickets are available. To sign up, visit the Eventbrite booking website.
